Gary Harley’s Last Word – Wyong (Tuesday)

By Gary Harley

A cracking Class 2 Munmorah Bowlo Handicap over 1000-metres will highlight the eight-race program at Wyong on Tuesday. Postmaster General has brilliant speed and from the favourable draw with Tommy Berry aboard he will probably lead. He races well at Wyong where he has had two wins and a second from five starts.

Launch Code won a Warwick Farm Maiden two starts back before an unplaced run on the same track less than three lengths from the winner. Goresbridge was run down late at Canterbury on debut before a five length Wyong win last meeting. Saskia Rose resumes and she is a speedster which races well at Wyong. Three Hats, Never Out and Risen cannot be underestimated.

RACE 1 (THE ENTRANCE LEAGUES CLUB MAIDEN, 1350m): Chris Waller has the two best performed gallopers in this race and the pair clashed in a recent Canterbury Maiden. Sepoy Acheva resumed from a spell when a close second behind Duchess Pedrille on the soft track at Canterbury. Metamorphic finished a length behind Sepoy Acheva at Canterbury when an odds on favourite. Godolphin’s Absolute is on debut after a good trial. SELECTIONS: 8 SEPOY ACHEVAV, 4 METAMORPHIC, 9 ABSOLUTE

RACE 2 (THE NORAH HEAD SPORTIES PROV & CTRY MAIDEN, 1200m): Star Princess resumed on this track with a solid third at the last meeting. The filly had won a trial prior to that race and she was placed in her only other start at Muswellbrook in September. Lugard Road was narrowly beaten at Hawkesbury second-up recently and is well drawn. Sugarland Express hasn’t raced since he was runner up at Gosford last start. SELECTIONS: 4 STAR PRINCESS, 7 LUGARD ROAD, 6 SUGARLAND EXPRESS

RACE 3 (TOUKLEY GOLF CLUB 2YO C&G MAIDEN, 1100m): Faeger was narrowly beaten on debut at Randwick in February and he followed up with a solid fourth on a good field at Warwick Farm. He resumes here after a quiet trial. Tony’s Reward wasn’t far away in a good field on debut on this track last meeting and he will be fitter. Beacon won a recent Rosehill trial and he is a well bred two-year-old. SELECTIONS: 6 FAEGER, 11 TONY’S REWARD, 3 BEACON

RACE 4 (WYONG GOLF CLUB 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN, 1100m): Sasso Corbaro has to overcome a wide barrier but she is a class above these. The filly has been beaten on the post in her only two starts at Canterbury. Bowman has ridden her in both starts and he comes to Wyong for one ride. Pandemonium was only beaten 2¼ lengths in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude in February and she resumes here after two recent trials. Torvill wasn’t far away in The Sweet Embrace in February and she resumes here. SELECTIONS: 8 SASSO CORBARO, 7 PANDEMONIUM, 11 TORVILL

RACE 5 (THE DOYLO ADVANTAGE PLUS CL 1, 1350m): Tearaway Charlie bolted in first-up at the recent Grafton Carnival. This is much tougher but he has the rails barrier and a top jockey. Unbridled Power is ready to pounce after two runs this prep, and the extra trip is ideal. Schifty Thinker is in good form and has a chance. SELECTIONS: 7 TEARAWAY CHARLIE, 8 UNBRIDLED POWER, 6 SCHIFTY THINKER

RACE 6 (MUNMORAH BOWLO CL 2, 1000m): Postmaster General has brilliant gate speed and he will be hard to run down. Both his wins have been on this track and he resumes on the back of a top trial. Launch Code looked good winning a Warwick Farm Maiden two starts back and he has speed. Gorsebridge was run down late on debut at Canterbury then bolted in on this track. SELECTIONS: 2 POSTMASTER GENERAL, 1 LAUNCH CODE, 4 GORESBRIDGE

RACE 7 (CLUB TOUKLEY RSL BM60, 1200m): Never Out was ridden off the speed here last start and she finished off well. She was narrowly beaten by a smart one over this trip first-up at Gosford and she was only beaten a length in a strong field last start. If Cultural Man is allowed to stride he can lead and prove hard to run down. Phoenix Claws led all the way for an easy Gosford Maiden win last start and she has claims. SELECTIONS: 3 NEVER OUT, 1 CULTURAL MAN, 4 PHOENIX CLAWS

RACE 8 (WYONG RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB GROUP BM65, 1600M): Coys found his best form when he led throughout to win by more than 3 lengths at Gosford last start. He has run a couple of nice races on this track and is the likely leader. Nissile is in good form and he is a threat while Adaboy Ross went okay when runner up on this track last meeting. SELECTIONS: 2 COYS, 3 NISSILE, 4 ADABOY ROSS
