The wives of riding aces Hugh Bowman and Kerrin McEvoy also will have starring roles at Hawkesbury’s XXXX Gold Stand Alone meeting on Saturday.
Whilst the champion jockeys’ focus will be on the nine-race program featuring threeGroup 3 races and nearly $1.2m in prizemoney, off the track Christine Bowman and Cathy McEvoy will be Hawkesbury Race Club’s racing and fashion ambassadors.
Along with Linda Fenech of Skin Fitness, Mrs Bowman and Mrs McEvoy (the sister of Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne) will select winners and present prizes for the “Best Dressed Lady” and “Best Dressed Group” (2-8 persons) categories.
This will form part of a ground-breaking Hawkesbury Fashion Stable, a dedicated marquee on the front lawn featuring the Skin Fitness Fashion Stakes.
The competition – which begins at 11.30am and continues until 3pm - encompasses a free photo-shoot experience, Skin Fitness Beauty Bar, Mumm Pop Up Champagne Bar and live music.
Hawkesbury chief executive Greg Rudolph says his club is delighted to have Mrs Bowman and Mrs McEvoy as its ambassadors for the 12th Stand Alone raceday.
“Hugh and Kerrin no doubt will be popular with punters given their current form and I’m sure Christine and Cathy will be equally popular with fashion contestants,” Rudolph said.
“Christine, Cathy and Linda are seasoned racegoers and will be looking for originality of style, attention to detail including headwear, overall presentation, attitude, flair and adaption of fashion trends.”
In a first for New South Wales’ major provincial raceday, Hawkesbury is offering a free digital fashion experience designed to encourage racegoers to embrace fashion, fun and frivolity while learning how to work the camera in the Skin Fitness Fashion Stakes, which replaces the traditional Fashions On The Field format.
The Skin Fitness Stakes, Skin Fitness Bar and Mumm Pop Up Champagne Bar ensures it is one of the places to be at the track this year, especially with the chance to win a fantastic prize of a three night Melbourne Cup trip, courtesy of Ambassador Travel.
Operating at the Hawkesbury Fashion Stable will be the Skin Fitness Beauty Bar featuring free hair and make-up touch ups, and the Mumm Pop Up Champagne Bar offers a splash of French fun and sophistication.
Gates open at 10.30am on Saturday and general admission is $20.
