As Easy As Looms Menacingly In NSW Picnic Champion Series

By Mark Brassel

A narrow win in the Lane Cove Legends Doug Allen Memorial Grenfell Cup (1400m) on Saturday has elevated As Easy As up the leader board whereby she is now contesting the lead.

As Easy As (Samara Johnson, $5.50) won the Cup by a head from Benno's Boy (Daniel Stanley, $4.20) with Dream on Stan (Kath Bell-Pitomac, $8) a further head away in third place.

Sergeant Bilko (36 points) is now just a point clear of As Easy As with Kinda Tangy (27pts) in third berth. Spare Parts, courtesy of his second in the Grenfell Bracelet, moves into a clear fourth spot on 21 points.

The points score began at Harden in 2016, with the NSW Picnic Champion Series Final being run on Dubbo Gold Cup Day (Sunday, 10th September 2017) offering $50,000 in prizemoney.

To qualify, horses will acquire points for every picnic race meeting they attend in NSW, with the highest ranking horses at the end of the 12 months being eligible to nominate for the Picnic Champions Final.

All horses except Maidens are eligible to qualify (Clubs must be affiliated with the NSW Picnic Racing Association and use Approved Riders).
