Outcome Of Appeal - Jockey Bobby El-Issa

Licensed jockey Bobby El-issa lodged an appeal against conviction and penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR137(a) after his ride on Foxy Rocket in Race 1 (Reward Homes Benchmark 64 Handicap, 1500m) at Gosford Racecourse on Saturday, 24 November 2018. Following a Stewards inquiry on this date, Mr El-issa was suspended for a period commencing Monday, 26 November 2018 and to expire on Sunday, 9 December 2018 on which day he may ride. This appeal was heard on Monday, 3 December 2018 commencing at 11:30am.

The Appeal Panel gave the following orders:

  1. Appeal against finding of breach of AR137(a) dismissed
  2. Finding of breach of AR137(a) confirmed
  3. Appeal against severity of penalty upheld
  4. In lieu of an 8 meeting suspension, a suspension of 7 meetings is imposed; that suspension commencing on 26 November 2018 and to expire on 8 December 2018
  5. Half Appeal Deposit forfeited, half to be refunded
