Tears And Cheers As Gary Kliese Celebrates 20 Years At Sky Racing

A special moment with tears and cheers for long time Sky Racing TV presenter Gary Kliese at a morning tea at Sky Racing’s Sydney studios, held to celebrate Kliese’s 20 years at Sky Racing.

Gary Kliese (centre) celebrates 20 years at Sky.

Gary’s milestone fell on August 1 – the Horses' birthday, so we celebrated by flying Gary and his wife of 38 years, Jenny, to Sydney for the occasion.

Gary spoke at length about his career as a jockey firstly, and then as a thoroughbred form expert and was quite emotional, telling everyone how much his job as a Sky Racing regional expert in Northern NSW means to him.

He paid special thanks to NSW Racing CEO Peter V’Landys, all the crew at Sky Racing and, of course, his lovely wife.

Tabcorp GM of Media and International Darren Pearce and Sky Racing Hall of Famer Graham McNeice were on hand for the special event, and many who could not be there sent their best regards via a video clip, which featured the likes of John Tapp, Greg Radley, Glenn Munsie and Bernie Cooper.

He was honored with his portrait image now in gold framing and a special place in the display area at Sky Racing for those who have notched up 20 years+ on Sky Racing TV screens.

There’s only a handful in the gold members lounge - Gary Kliese is the latest to get membership!
