Nowra Winners - Tips For Sunday 6th December

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Nowra on Sunday.

Race 1 - 1:15PM 2ST & POWER FM F&M SHOWCASE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

4. Zou De Moon steps out on debut for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with the Zoustar filly showing more than enough in three barrier trials to suggest she could knock off a country maiden. Isn’t blessed with brilliant speed but will be closing hard.

Dangers: The worry with 1. Amungee is 1100m first up with 59kg. She was heavily backed on debut at Newcastle over 900m but was gunned down late. She had every possible chance on that occasion.

How to play it: Zou De Moon WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 2 - 1:50PM THE ALL NEW HAVAL H2 CG&E SHOWCASE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

4. Gigastar finds a winnable race on debut again for training duo Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. The son of Exceed And Excel has had two trials, finishing second in both, and there was a lot to like about his late strength.

Dangers: If 1. The Irish Yankee ran up to his Kembla debut when second to Mr Mosaic, he’d just about win this. Has been ordinary since but settled back and covered ground. 5. Glock has had plenty of chances.

How to play it: Gigastar WIN ($2.10 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 3 - 2:25PM CULBURRA KITCHENS & BATHROOMS COUNTRY MAIDEN SHOWCASE PLATE (1400 METRES)

8. Loving Cilla started a big price on debut at Canberra three weeks ago but liked the way this Reliable Man mare hit the line to run third. Expect her to settle in the back half of the field but she doesn’t have to improve much to go two better, and the extra 200m is right up her alley.

Dangers: A maiden win is near for 7. Jac The Great having run two encouraging seconds this time back. The latest behind handy city performed galloper Much Much Better. 9. So Say You looks to round out the key hopes.

How to play it: Loving Cilla WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 3:00PM LIGHTHOUSE PLUMBING CLASS 2 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

There’s plenty of chances in this but at least we know 2. Forged In Stone will be out in front making his own luck. Went down fighting at Taree last start while the gelding was a dominant winner the start prior to that.

Dangers: 3. Super Vino went straight to the front to win at Gosford last start. He’ll provide company for Forged In Stone up top. 6. Call Me Artie is chasing three straight and combines again with Jess Taylor.

How to play it: Forged In Stone WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 5 - 3:35PM FLINDERS WORKWEAR & EMBROIDERY CLASS 1 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Would be very keen on the chances of 2. Nikohli Beagle if not for the very wide draw. The concern is where he’ll get to. There does look to be plenty of speed engaged though. Still want to be with him on the strength of his exceptional last start win, his first outing for Jarrod Austin.

Dangers: 10. Distillate recorded an equally dominant last start victory, but for Matt Dale. Comes back to 1100m but she’ll bounce out to settle handy again. 5. Westgrove ran well at Kembla last start which stacks up well for this.

How to play it: Nikohli Beagle WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 6 - 4:10PM HANLON WINDOWS BELLE OF THE SOUTH- F&M BENCHMARK 66 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

10. Havelka has won just one from 21 but that was a Canterbury maiden only back in January. Has been knocking around in city and provincial class since then. Drops back to country grade here and didn’t have much luck at Gosford first up.

Dangers: 6. Noble Belle stretched out to the mile last preparation but has won two from three fresh and 1200m first up gives him his chance, especially from the cosy draw. 9. Grace Bay comes off a dominant Gunnedah win.

How to play it: Havelka EACH WAY ($12 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 7 - 4:50PM COUNTRY MOTOR COMPANY NOWRA SHOWCASE CUP (1600 METRES)

The Nowra Cup looks 4. Greek Hero’s to lose, as the market suggests. The five-year-old import should have won first up at Kembla Grange but half missed the start before being held up at the top of the straight. Very well placed to atone for that here.

Dangers: 6. Lisdoonvarna is holding her form well at the moment and maps to get on speed favours. Hasn’t been far away in her last three starts, albeit without winning, but there isn’t many ways to turn outside of Greek Hero.

How to play it: Greek Hero WIN ($1.75 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 8 - 5:25PM THE ALL NEW HAVAL H6 SHOWCASE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Plenty of chances but 9. Designer Dance is as good as any of them and she’s drawn the inside peg. Like the way she closed last start behind Excotic Deel. That was third up. Peaks now and will be motoring home late.

Dangers: 11. Distinctive Glory finally broke through three starts back, at Newcastle before running well in two starts since at provincial level. This is a step down from that and the Clarry Connors stable is in rare form.

How to play it: Designer Dance EACH WAY ($10 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS
