Neil Evans' Tips For Goulburn (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4, with possible downgrade, and rail true

Race 1 MAIDEN HCP (1400m):

Improving Randwick 4YO 1. Kowloon Treasure is ready to break through at third start over more ground. Swept home from a long way back at Moruya, and even better suited here.

Dangers: Local filly 3. Diorissima is also well placed second-up over a little more ground from a soft draw, and will be charging late; while 3YO 5. Iciafox can improve at his second start over a longer trip.

How to play it: Kowloon Treasure to win and quinella 1 and 3. Odds and Evens: Odds a special

Race 2 CLASS 1 HCP (1400m):

Good quality race for this grade. Keen on 4YO mare 4. Oribella who hit the line late at Hawkesbury, and should be right at her peak after four runs back. Draws to get a cosy run back on the inside.

Dangers: Watch the betting on Randwick filly 9. Fortune Seeker who was a dominant debut winner at Canberra, and looks to have plenty of ability. Honest 6YO 2. Temple Run rarely puts in a bad one, and just missed in a thinner race at Orange last start when heavily backed. Hard fit, but this is tougher.

How to play it: Oribella to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Oribella runs second at Hawkesbury on September 24

Race 3 MAIDEN HCP (1600m):

Out to the mile for a tricky maiden. Improving filly 5. All Too Rio produced a better run third-up when ridden closer at Orange after flopping as a well backed chance at Canberra. Gets blinkers on fourth-up over a more suitable longer trip, and can finish over them at good odds if ridden a little quieter.

Dangers: Another filly 6. Bella Violet will also benefit from the blinkers going on third-up in a weaker race; while 2. Al Sahara found the line strongly here third-up, and took on stronger metro company last prep.

How to play it: All Too Rio each way and box exacta 2,5,6. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 BM 58 HCP (1000m):

Locally-trained 2. Private Agent is a smart 3YO resuming off a five-month break, with the blinkers added. Had two nice trials to prepare, and bolted in on debut late autumn. The one to beat.

Dangers: Home track 6YO 6. Rozburg is over the odds from the draw after four runs back. Got home nicely at Wagga last start when well specked in the market, and the winner has since won a very handy CL3. Capable mare 3. Shanaya drops down in class after well beaten in a strong Highway at Randwick after bolting in a a CL1 at Wagga. Include improving Kembla mare 5. Dozer Bay second-up after boxing on okay behind a talented one at home.

How to play it: Private Agent to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Private Agent runs second in a trial at Rosehill on September 28

Race 5 MAIDEN PLATE (1200m):

Tough sprint, with a few of the better fancies drawn out. Liked the way Warwick Farm Exosphere filly 13. Premosphere stuck on strongly debuting in a handy maiden at Nowra, and can improve over a little further on a bigger track.

Dangers: Had to fancy the second of two trials from Randwick colt 10. Remorseless who returns with winkers added. Hasn't started for nine months, but mixed it with the better two-year-olds earlier in the year. Randwick mare 17. Bottoms Up Babe resumes off two progressive trials after tackling deeper races in her first prep. Watch the betting on debutant 3YO 11. The Burning who has trialled quietly for leading Canberra stable; while Include Randwick mare and European import 15. La Reconquista who has had two trials, and from the inside draw will be finishing on late.

How to play it: Premosphere each way and first four: 10,13,17/10,13,17/10,11,13,15,17/10,11,13,15,17. Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 6 BM 66 HCP (1300m):

Very open battle to finish. Local 6YO 12. Mr Kylin has won three of his last five, and is ready for this tougher test. Bolted home from the front here in a BM 58 when well backed, and only needs to get over from a wide draw to control the race.

Dangers: Warwick Farm 7YO 1. Tessera has a poor winning strike rate, but consistently close-up of late in similar grade, and draws to get a nice trail just off the speed. Kembla mare 8. Bride Of Vengeance is hard-fit, won two of her last five, and kept improving this prep. Randwick 4YO 9. Classic Bright resumes for strong metro yard off two quiet trials, and draws the inside. Local mare 11. Ameares draws well fifth-up and down in weight; while include Warwick Farm 8YO 3. Art Of Excellence in wider exotics.

How to play it: My Kylin each way. Odds and Evens: Split
