Facoory has trained his share of talented horses who have made it through to open class and likes what he sees in Magic Speed.
“She has shown a fair bit from the start and her debut win backed that up,” he said.
"She has improved a bit more since and I gave her a good hit out recently to make sure she is right after a few weeks between starts.
“I was going to start her in Sydney, but this race was more suitable than taking on Saturday city class.”
Magic Speed was bred by her owner Vince Suraci who formerly trained himself and has some other horses he bred also waiting to start.
“Vince has a few nice young horses and this filly has always stood out a bit,” he said.
Sydney jockey Jean Van Overmeire will take over on Magic Speed with Jake Barrett, who rode her last start, sidelined with a neck injury following a fall at the Sapphire Coast.
Wagga trainer Tim Donnelly will have three starters with Judith’s Revenge ($4.80) appearing to be his best chance after an encouraging last start third behind subsequent winner Stardom at the Wagga Cup Carnival.
He will also start Calpastatin ($18) and Mavanne ($81) with Judith’s Revenge rated as the best chance of the trio.
“She was due to start at Scone a couple of weeks ago, but missed that race so it will be a while between starts,” he said.
“The form out of her last start is very good with Stardom going on. Calpastatin has come on since the last run and Mavanne has also improved.”
Exiled Prince ($4.40) is a trial winner for trainer Danny Williams and looks a likely type to figure on debut with for 4kg-claiming apprentice Dale Cole aboard.
Ring Of Fire ($9) also looked the part in a recent Canberra trial for trainers Keith Dryden & Libby Snowden. The juvenile was third behind Yindyamarra and Prophet’s Promise who will both make their debuts in the Lucas Road Sealing Maiden (1000m).
The Wagga track is rated a Soft 6 for the seven races with the rail 3m out.
