The Good Oil For Goulburn Races Today

THE GOOD OIL FOR GOULBURN TODAY!

*Presented by Goulburn District Racing Club

GOULBURN 1 – ELECTEL SERVICES MAIDEN HCP (1000M)
A competitive field to open the card with Dexluther ($2.15 on TAB fixed odds) and Genoveffa ($5) expected to utilise good draws to hold forward positions early.  Dexluther has been placed in two of three starts to date. Backed up a solid trial with a runner-up result at Orange first-up for the Baker stable. Has Jason “fill your wallet” Collett on board and drawn sweetly. All Accomplished ($4,60) is the stablemate of Dexluther and is on debut. Very competitive at the trials including a recent Gosford win over 1000m. Tricky draw to overcome but worth noting any market confidence his way over the stablemate. Genoveffa was placed on debut in easier at Queanbeyan. In a canny yard and drawn to give plenty of cheek over this trip.

GOULBURN 2 – WARATAH THOROUGHBREDS CLASS 2 HCP (1400M)
Interesting Class 2 with some mixed form lines. Langley ($2.25 fav) is back sharply in grade but has trialled solidly enough of late. Suited over longer but should sprint well fresh for the O’Shea yard. Tennessee Tango ($4.20) took on some sharp company as a 2YO and probably needed the hit out first-up after six months off. Has won second-up and Ford a key booking.

GOULBURN 3 – S & K WILSON PLUMBING B55 HCP (2100M)
A test of the toughest legs over a staying trip with Pirellone ($11) prominent early along with Stitched Up ($3.30 fav) and possibly From Pentridge ($4.20) off a friendlier draw today. Stitched Up is making good early progress as a stayer after just six starts. Has won two of his last three and grinded right to the line to win at Canberra last start. Rises 1.5kg for this but still a sharp chance. Somoso ($10) wasn’t beaten far at Moruya last start after almost a month of. Has enough miles in his legs to be very competitive in this line-up.  From Pentridge is a proven stayer who gets two big ticks, gate 2 and Jason Collett! Ran on nicely in latest over a staying trip in similar company.

GOULBURN 4 - WEDDINGS & FUNCTIONS ON TRACK MAIDEN PLATE (1600M)
Mad Pirate ($3.50), Momentum to Win ($5) and God Sent ($10) have all shown early speed in their races to date so expect this to be run at a genuine clip. Rapture Miss ($2.20 fav) has had a productive summer of racing despite missing out on the winner’s stall. Country grade placed at her last three starts and has proven mile credentials. Finds a very winnable race for the Dale/Reith combination. Mad Pirate will need his share of luck early jumping from a muddy marble. Very competitive in two mid-distance contests since resuming and ready for a crack at the mile now; comes from the dough maker, Baker camp.  Momentum to Win has contested tougher events than this. Held his margin right to the line in a small provincial field first up where they ran a sub 34 sectional. Fitter and market watch advised. Chekkapen ($13) hasn’t been far in two starts from a spell and could add value to the exotics.

GOULBURN 5 – DOUGLASS BLINDS &SECURITY SCREENS CLASS 1 (1200M)
Madonnica ($4.80) and Creative Vision ($4.60) like to let fly early so we should see a slick run race here. Madonnica arrives here fresh for the Waterhouse-Bott team with solid credentials for a Class 1. Won her maiden in the city last campaign beating recent city winner Swafham Bullbeck and mostly consistent in seven starts to date. Trialled twice and has plenty of natural speed. The Greatest ($3.20) has big name to live up to but made a good start to his career with a debut win at Nowra on a have track. Given a month between runs and coming off the rails draw looms as a big threat. O'so Tempting ($2.90 fav) really let down nicely on debut at Moruya and shows plenty of promise. Steps out on her home track this time and gets the home team draw. Can measure up.

GOULBURN 6 – STORAGE KING GOULBURN B58 (1200M)
Chewbacca ($2.50 fav) and A’int She a Dane ($23) should fly the on-pace flag for the locals in this. Chewbacca is a promising type trained by the premier local yard. Dual acceptor who resumes here after a win and a minor placing at his first campaign. Has plenty of upside and should start at a deserved short quote. The consistent Fortune Star ($4.60) has been game in two starts since resuming with minor placings in small provincial fields. Drawn awkwardly but has the form to figure. Local mare Lulu Raez ($4.40) has a win and two minor placings from three starts this campaign. Trained locally and ready for the extra trip on offer here.

GOULBURN 7 – COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS@GOULBURN 24 FEB MDN HCP (1200M)
A big maiden field with limited experience to close the day. Foxy Queen ($6), Bullseye Score ($16) and Read All About It ($5) should help generate good early speed in an open race. Read All About It looks a ready-made type winning both trials to date. Will need some early luck off a tricky draw but expect him to find some ‘extra-extra’ and prove hard to beat! Foxy Queen’s only poor run this campaign was on a heavy track having placed twice in country grade the other two. Should find a firmer surface and race fitness a big plus for her. Zaffirina ($2.90 fav) caught the eye steaming home over this trip at Kembla Grange before going to the paddock. Sharpened up with two recent trials and looks ready for genuine first-up tilt. Beauty Kanas ($10) has done everything right in two trials for the David Payne stable. Quietly drawn in gate one and must be kept safe.

TOUGHEST TO BEAT – CHEWBACCA (Race 6-$2.50)
VALUE PLAY – TENNESSEE TANGO (Race 2-$4.20)
