Injured Shoalhaven City Turf Club Chairman - Update

Shoalhaven City Turf Club’s Chairman, Michael Martin, is recovering in hospital after an incident at Nowra Racecourse on Monday (14/5/18).

Michael suffered burns to approximately 13%t of his body after an on-course kitchen accident. Michael was treated at Shoalhaven Hospital before being transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Doctors will make a decision on Friday whether Michael will require surgery.

[Update on Tuesday, 22nd May 2018]: Michael Martin is improving following surgery yesterday at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital. The Shoalhaven Turf Club Chairman underwent skin graft surgery for burns suffered in an incident at Nowra Racecourse on Monday 14/5/18. Michael remains in a lot of pain but is steadily improving. Doctors will reassess him again this Friday and, if all goes well, he may be discharged from hospital early next week.
