Selections For Today's Goulburn Race Meeting

GOULBURN - THURSDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER

Selections supplied by Goulburn Race Club

The rail is out 6m the entire circumference with the track rated a Good 4. A mostly sunny & windy day is forecast with a top of 17 degrees.

BEST BETS
Race 2, No.1 - RAIDERLICIOUS ($3.20 favourite on TAB)
Race 4, No.2 - INVINCIBLE PHANTOM ($1.90 fav)

Race 1 - 1:25PM KIRK'S BRIDGE FARM BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (2140M)

8. SCOTTISH PEARL ($1.65 favourite on TAB) has delivered top three results in provincial grade at her past two contests with reliable form lines. Suited at this trip third-up slightly back in grade and should be prominent from the outset. 6. Goofinator ($4.60) dug deep to deliver at the same track and trip last time. Slipstream draw matters and capable of more home track heroics. 5. Buff In Disguise ($17) has finished close-up in his past three country grade contests and a firmer track plays him into calculations. 2. Devils Daughter ($5.50) has been all iron horse of late and lines up for her fourth run in three weeks. Only query is what’s left in the tank.

How to play it: Scottish Pearl WIN

Race 2 - 2:05PM AARON GRANT ELECTRICAL COUNTRY BOOSTED MDN HCP (1300M)

1. RAIDERLICIOUS ($3.20 fav) stuck to the task gamely on debut at this track in October and stable is hot enough to stare down lava at present. Reads right resuming. 4. Foxy Artist ($6) rifled home with purpose on debut at Grafton and the stable makes the long trek south with obvious intent. Despite the visitor's draw has real appeal. 10. Gaelic Gem ($11) was backed for a stack on debut at this track and tried hard as runner-up on a heavy surface. Slightly up in trip but is a key runner. 9. Wolf Island ($7.50) has put up good numbers of late despite being plagued by poor draws Fighting fit for what looks a tougher test.

How to play it: Raiderlicious WIN

Race 3 - 2:40PM DOUGLASS BLINDS & SECURITY SCREENS MAIDEN PLATE (1500M)

9. FREDDIE BASSETT ($1.35 fav) looks the pea slotting into a country maiden after two solid metropolitan efforts to date. 'Good for the wallet Collett (Alysha)' pilots from a quiet gate setting a strong standard 11. One Step Closer ($2.90) has offered drift back efforts in his past two contests at Hawkesbury and Kembla Grange. Two trials and a race adds up to a show best scenario. 2. Stock Road ($2.90) was placed at this track and trip last campaign and recent Warwick Farm trial was sharp. Value chance. 7. Sunday ($15) has held her margin late in provincial company at her past three starts giving her top four claims.

How to play it: Freddie Bassett WIN

Race 4 - 3:15PM PAT MURPHY RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100M)

2. INVINCIBLE PHANTOM ($1.90 fav) was ultra-competitive in two strong juvenile races in the autumn and has been all hustle in two recent trials. Expecting a sharp jump and run display first-up. 3. Floral Legend ($2.90) hasn't been far away in two strong provincial races since resuming. Nicely placed for a winning challenge. 6. Blue Eyed Brigid ($7.50) has offered mix fodder in two recent trials but eases back into a lighter contest than her two autumn races. 6. Lovehunter ($19) sees a good track for the first time in her career and her first-up run at Wagga was her only outing in the past 14 months. With added fitness is worth another look at odds.

How to play it: Invincible Phantom WIN

Race 5 - 3:55PM JCF CONTRACTING BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1100M)

3. BOOMTOWN CHAT ($7) has been very low key in two recent trials but has shown previously he can peel of a snappy first-up result in good time. Worth wagering he can overcome a wide draw. 2. King Taurus ($3.70) keeps pushing up in the weights courtesy of a win and a top three cheque from his past two starts against similar opposition. With a no excuses draw promises more of the same. Can easily find 5. All Too Lucky ($8) after she missed the jump in a hot race at Moruya second-up. Probably spots them a start but should find the competition more to her liking. 4. Extreme Diamond ($2.50 fav) lost his way at the back end of last campaign but recent trials have been toey enough. In-form hoop another plus.

How to play it: Boomtown Chat EACH-WAY. Quinella: 3 from 5/2/4

Race 6 - 4:35PM CAMPBELL PETROLEUM DISTRIBUTORS CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1500M)

No slur on the form of 4. KEN'KER ($6) prior to a spell and he immediately got back into the groove with a runner-up effort at Queanbeyan first-up. Kind draw puts him handy early with genuine claims. 1. Socrazyinlove ($2 fav) was perfectly placed by the stable to deliver first-up off the back of strong interstate form prior to that. Goes to a Class 2 with extra kilos but still has genuine presence in this line up 3. Montigo Bay ($7) was midfield in a handy provincial race over a mile last start. Finally lands a sweet draw and fitness no issue. 9. Sweet Treats ($6.50) is a last start winner in genuine country grade and has form at this track and trip. Cheeky chance with no weight on her back.

How to play it: Ken'Ker EACH-WAY

Race 7 - 5:10PM HIBERNIAN HOTEL COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1100M)

Happy to forgive the effort of 1. BOOM IN THE DARK ($5.50) on a genuinely wet track at Nowra last start. Previous runs in similar company were stylish enough to give the stable it's fifth win of the month. 1. Luna Jet ($3 fav) returns without an official trial for the Matt Dale camp and his early prep runs were upside efforts. Despite drawing wide should be rock solid in the market. 2. Manwari ($5.50) has carried his solid winter resolve into the change of season winning a Moruya Benchmark 58 rated race nine days ago. At his trip limit but returns home a confident horse 3. Performing Diva ($8.50) gets a 3kg weight drop and has the natural speed to lead. Capable of much better back to home track.

How to play it: Boom In The Dark WIN
