Neil Evans' Tips For Tamworth (Friday)

By Neil Evans

Track Soft 7 and rail true

Race 1 - 12:15PM DUTTON ELECTRICAL MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

8. Capsity is the only two-year-old in the field, making her debut for the Brett Cavanough stable. A daughter of prolific sprint sire Capitalist, starts behind two progressive 1000m trials, and is bred to thrive on rain-affected ground. 3. Tough Guy is an ex-Victorian three-year-old having his first start for the new home stable, with a string of gear changes in play, and likely to jump a short-priced favourite. Was never far away in three handy efforts down south before spelling, and been tuned up for a strong NSW debut with a solid soft track trial at Scone. 1. Jagerschnitzel is another one having his first outing for a new Scone yard since transferring up from Victoria. Form this prep is very average, but in superior training hands now, and the blinkers come off. Gap to the rest.

How to play it: Capsity to win

Race 2 - 12:50PM WARNELEC ELECTRICAL SERVICES BM58 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

5. Shamister is an underrated and very fit Dubbo five-year-old who emerges as the one to beat in an average field despite having a poor winning strike rate. Has beaten all but the winner in two of his last three from off speed, and can settle a bit closer from a softer draw this time, and finish over them. 2. Imezaaki is trained on the course, and right in the hunt third-up over the longer trip, with a far stronger and leading jockey taking over. 7. Libby is still searching for that breakthrough win deep into the prep, but has run home into the placings in her last three, and looking for this longer journey now. 3. Your Temptation back in grade over further, and 6. Bill Peyto deep into the campaign; can both add value into exotic plays.

How to play it: Shamister to win

Race 3 - 1:25PM RISE MARKETING PROMOTIONS MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

7. Yanabah is a progressive and locally-trained four-year-old primed to break through fifth-up. Has hit the line hard to miss narrowly in his last two from both near the speed and much further back, and has placed five times form nine career runs, often by small margins. Gets enough speed on to settle back and round them up late. 9. Halle Bee is another local, and logical threat fourth-up with the leading jockey booked to ride. Has a near 50 percent place rate from 19 starts. 3. Hardhead is over the odds deep into the prep from a soft draw; while 2. Hanoverian is a market watch resuming for only his second start off two trials.

How to play it: Yanabah to win

Race 4 - 2:05PM RABBIT ELECTRICAL SERVICES SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

2. Louisburgh can start the redemption trail here fourth-up coming back 100m in trip three weeks between runs. Has been rolled in his last couple as a short-priced favourite on heavy ground, but winkers coming off and drawn further out where he settles with more room in the run home are keys to an overdue win. 1. Justice Warrior is a real toiler who has beaten all but the winner in his last two at the provincials, boxing on okay after leading at Wyong last start. This draw and a drop in distance suit. Watch the betting on 4. Snap Decision, a three-year-old son of Proisir in the local Cody Morgan yard, who debuts from the inside draw behind an easy trial. Big gap to the remainder headed by 5. Xerxes who can run into the minor money resuming off a quiet trial.

How to play it: Louisburgh to win

Race 5 - 2:40PM CETNAJ ELECTRICAL WHOLESALERS BM66 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

11. Arrabbiata is a tough and locally-trained mare who can peak third-up at big odds over a furlong further in what is a very open mile. Has held her ground in two runs back from a spell in and around this level, and she thrives in soft ground parking near the speed. 9. Storm Park is a lightly raced three-year-old bred to get much further, and can run a big race resuming for a second prep off two trials. 13. Visualise is an improving home tracker who loves to roll forward, and was only claimed late in a handy Class 3 here when third-up. 14. Hibiki Harmony will look for the lead from wider out, and despite rising in grade third-up, can take some catching on a significant weight drop. 1. Invincible Red must overcome a big weight increase and a wide draw, but was solid to the line in a deeper BM 82 only seven days ago, and two of his four career wins have come at this track. 6. Mega Fight with important gear changes, and 8. Point Out drawn to get plenty of cover fifth-up; can add further value into wider exotic plays.

How to play it: Arrabbiata each way

Race 6 - 3:20PM ANYTIME SELF STORAGE UNITS COUNTRY BOOSTED CLASS 1 (1200M)

10. Hefty Price is a tough and fit four-year-old who finished hard to win a strong Super Maiden at Dubbo last Sunday. Can relish the quick back-up at big odds, despite drawing wide, and gets in light after the jockey’s 3kg claim. 6. Rembroy will be hard to hold out second-up after finishing best to claim his maiden here fresh. Drops in weight, with the top jockey sticking solid. 4. Cresta Run hit the line hard from well back when resuming, but under the odds drawn wide. 1. Western Conqueror is a market watch resuming for a shrewd Armidale stable, with no public trials. 3. Takeover Lad who loves this trip, and at much longer odds, 5. No More Romance second-up, and 11. Injair third-up, are worthy inclusions in trifecta and first four bids.

How to play it: Hefty Price each way

Race 7 - 3:55PM L & K ELECTRICAL & AIR CONDITIONING C2 & ABOVE BM58 (1200M)

5. Cheap Gas is well placed third-up over 100m further, despite a sharp weight rise. Hit the line late into a place in a deeper Class 3 three weeks ago, and jockey change is very significant. 3. Move She Can is an improver coming back in class, although also up sharply in weight from a tricky draw. 1. Hollywood Gold finished hard to win a CL1 third-up, but in poorly at the weights going up in class. 4. Deebo is trained on the course, and a market watch behind two trials. 2. So Rosie heads the rest coming off a fresh win in BM 58 grade.

How to play it: Cheap Gas to win

Race 8 - 4:35PM TLE ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 74 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

1. Our Boy Ollie is tough and capable home tracker primed to strike second-up coming back in grade on a seven day back-up. Worked home well just behind the place-getters when resuming here, and with a solid strike rate from 28 starts, is a very reliable weight carrier over this short course. 3. Who Goes There has a smart 40 percent win rate from 10 starts, and a big market watch resuming on his home track. 5. Jet Empress is a talented mare who was very stiff not to win first-up at Dubbo, sitting wide with no cover all the way before being claimed in the last stride. Gets some weight relief for this tougher test. 7. Not Written Off is the other clear chance three weeks after a dominant first-up win at Muswellbrook, and has since bolted in a trial in soft ground. Gap to the rest headed by 8. Durova who reloads off a nine week break for the new Scone yard after three runs against metro opposition, and draws inside.

How to play it: Our Boy Ollie to win

BEST BETS:
R2 5. SHAMISTER
R3 7. YANABAH

BEST VALUE:
R7 5. CHEAP GAS
