3. Empress Tsarina is a tough filly who can bounce back deep into the campaign and coming back sharply in trip. Was placed three times on rain-affected ground at provincial level before doing it tough from the draw over a longer trip at Muswellbrook 23 days ago on a shifty surface. Reliable weight carrier who will settle well off speed and then taken to the outside past the 400m. 4. Rockadeel is a filly by Russian Revolution, and a big market watch on debut for the local Rodney Northam stable behind two progressive trials. 1. The Warrior can improve sharply at his second start after debuting in deeper provincial company. 5. She’s So Fly is a filly by Flying Artie on debut off a dominant recent trial win in soft ground for the Kristen Buchanan yard, although has plenty of gear additions, including bandages front and back. 2. Third Base having his second outing can run into the money.
How to play it: Empress Tsarina to win

9. Magurtz, a two-year-old by Tassort in the Scott Singleton stable, looks set to make a winning debut at home. Has had three lead-up trials all over the 1000m, winning the latest two both times on a soft 7 rating. 8. See You Then is a rival local drawn closer in, and looms as the clear threat and quinella runner third-up in her first full prep having missed narrowly in two runs at Tamworth so far. Gap to the rest headed by 5. Wanavan, a stablemate of the top selection who can run into the money second-up over 100m further; while another local 6. Flying Molly adds value into exotics third-up.
How to play it: Magurtz to win
Race 3 - 1:40PM MUSWELLBROOK FORD BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (1700 METRES) |

1. Charleroi is a talented home track three-year-old who seemingly has a mortgage on this modest affair for a normally competitive level. Has won two of his last four, careering away from the trail by nearly seven lengths two starts ago before chasing home a tough winner in higher grade at Gosford 12 days ago. Much better suited back on a much bigger track, and the extra 100m is a further plus settling just off the speed. 7. Storm Park is an improver over further after running home late in a provincial BM 64, with a stronger jockey taking over. 3. Rothrock is a shade over the odds well into the prep with the blinkers coming off; while at bigger odds 2. Oakfield Mamselle third-up with a jockey change goes in all wider exotics.
How to play it: Charleroi to win and quinella 1 & 7
Race 4 - 2:20PM NEWGATE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1000 METRES) |

4. Edge Of Midnight is a tough provincial-based sprinter well placed second-up and staying over the distance. Was always in or around the money up to BM 64 level last prep, and like the way he hit the line under a big weight when resuming here. 1. Manage The Cycle loves to drift back and might not be suited by the inside draw, but he’s won his last two up to this level charging home from well off the speed, and a 2kg claim off sets the big weight. 7. Champagne Tonight is a lightly raced and emerging filly who finished best to win her maiden as a hot favourite at this track before again doing her best work late in a CL1 just nine days ago. Watch the betting at big odds aboard 2. Catchy Tunes resuming with no public trials, and was scratched from Tuesday’s Wellington meeting to be saved for this. 6. Echelon is trained on the course and can figure in the minor money off a strong finishing fresh maiden win.
How to play it: Edge Of Midnight to win
Race 5 - 2:55PM SCONE EQUINE HOSPITAL CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES) |

11. Pindorama is a talented home track filly who can bounce back at her third start over 300m further. Finished best to beat a good maiden field here on debut five weeks back before finding the track too hard in a CL1 and failing to attack the line. Much better placed on a softer surface again settling off speed, and in a set weights race. 5. Oceanfront is an improver and big each way value second-up getting to the mile; while stablemate 6. Rebel Rhapsody comes off a first-up maiden win in heavy ground. Include home track fillies 8. Another Peach behind a second-up maiden win, and 12. Saintly Sands lightly raced; in all trifecta and first fours.
How to play it: Pindorama to win
Race 6 - 3:35PM YARRAMAN PARK MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES) |

9. Smart Buy is another lightly raced and progressive filly trained on the course who represents terrific value second-up in an open race at only her fifth start. Ran home hard in consecutive races to round out a promising first prep before again doing her best work late when resuming here as an easing favourite. Fitter now and she gets out to her right distance. 1. Dwayne is a big market watch reloading off a six week break with the blinkers coming off, and behind a smart soft track trial win. 2. Eagleturn is value at her second start after running home behind an impressive winner on debut at Tamworth, and bred to thrive on wet tracks. 14. Machrimore is a locally-trained two-year-old filly bred to thrive in the ground, and comes off a solid closing debut at this track when backed from $6.00 into $4.20. 3. What a Gent can add plenty of value into exotic bets after a fair fresh return at Grafton over the carnival. Watch the market on 11. Hell Island, a two-year-old by Hellbent on debut for the Richard and Will Freedman yard off three quiet trials; while 10. Zo Frilling is also an each-way watch on her preferred rain-affected ground.
How to play it: Smart Buy to win
Race 7 - 4:10PM NSW JOCKEYS ASSOCIATION CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1300 METRES) |
---|
2. Solitario is a progressive home three-year-old who rates clear on top third-up coming back a shade in distance. Ran home best resuming as a short-priced fancy to claim a CL1 here before just didn’t attack the line late when beaten narrowly in a BM 66 three weeks ago. Even better suited now on a likely softer surface, and top jockey sticks solid. 5. Girrawheen is a tough filly who drove home late to score second-up at Dubbo. Carries 1kg less here, handles the going and this isn’t much stronger. Gap to the rest headed by 9. Great Idea who is each way value after charging home from well back in heavy ground to land his maiden at Tamworth second-up. Include in exotics 3. Nights Inferno dropping in class third-up, and 8. Upwardly Mobile resuming from a wide draw, but comes to hand quickly and right at home in the conditions.
How to play it: Solitario to win
Race 8 - 4:50PM PRYDE'S EASIFEED BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1200 METRES) |
---|
6. Cresta Run is a talented local filly bred to thrive on soft tracks, and is is bursting to claim a second win third-up in only her second full prep. Has rushed home from well off speed to beat all bar the winner here in two runs back, the latest finishing in front of the on top selection from race 5. Drawn wide, but she’ll naturally get back anyway, and wide out will likely be the place to be late in the day. 8. Magical Elegance is an each way threat after running home well in deeper grade at Bathurst 10 days ago. 2. Capicella is over the odds after dominating a BM 58 third-up, with a 3kg claim and right at home in soft ground. 9. Release Point who flashed home late when resuming here in a CL1, and 12. All Too Wild who has finished close-up at the provincials in two runs back from a break; head the rest.
How to play it: Cresta Run to win
