Moruya Tips For Tuesday - By John Schell

Selections by John Schell

The rail is out 3m from the 1000m to the 380m where the cutaway rail applies, with the track rated a Heavy 9. There's no rain forecast up until Tuesday with a sunny 21 degrees on raceday.

Tuesday 5th August – MORUYA

Race 1 - 1:05PM OYSTER SHED ON WRAY ST BATEMANS BAY MAIDEN PLATE (1020M)

7. PERFORMING DIVA ($6.50 on TAB) is a talented mare in the Pat Murphy stable. She’s been scratched a couple of times recently from Forbes on Sunday and Wagga Riverside on Monday. She’s only had two starts for a handy fourth at Nowra on debut before a second at Goulburn when beaten less than a length and then being spelled. She’s drawn well in this event and can return to racing a winner. 4. Azzucca ($3.80) has had two runs back from a spell for a fifth on the Acton Track at Canberra and a sixth at this track. She ran second in her first two race starts at Canberra and if she can repeat those efforts she can make an impact. 5. Miss Eadie ($6.50) is a first starter by Ready For Victory and finished third at Goulburn in her only trial. 9. Eagerly Awaits ($2.15 favourite) is a former Price & Kent galloper that has had one trial since joining the Mitchell Beer stable and is worth including among the main chances.

How to play it: Performing Diva WIN

Race 2 - 1:40PM NORTH RYDE RSL MORUYA CUP DAY MONDAY 5TH JAN MDN (1310M)

9. SHOREMAN ($3.40) was safely held when down the track on the Acton Track at Canberra two starts ago but showed improvement when a last start fourth at this track when leading. He’s drawn the inside gate here and if he can improve on his latest effort he can take running down. 6. Brutal Belle ($2.90 fav) has been safely held in recent runs but doesn’t strike an overly hard event here. 4. Avalon Lady ($7.50) was fifth (of five) at Goulburn last time out but can improve on that. 5. Brume De Soleil ($12) was midfield in her most recent run and can sneak into the placings.

How to play it: Shoreman WIN

Race 3 - 2:15PM AMH AUTO GROUP MORUYA CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1020M)

3. LAGUNA SECA ($3.80 fav) is resuming from a spell but has a good fresh record with a win and two placings when first-up. He ran third in a trial leading into this return to racing. 1. A Book Of Days ($8.50) resumed for the new stable with a solid fourth at Goulburn before a safely held last start last at the same track. He is worth another chance. 10. Commandoro ($5) ran well when a last start second at this track, while 6. Vereeva ($8) ran third here when last produced and is worth thought again.

How to play it: Laguna Seca WIN

Race 4 - 2:55PM CLYDE'S EQUINE BODYWORK BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1210M)

2. HELLINDA ($3.30 fav) won at this track in good style three starts ago and followed that up with two seconds at Narrandera and Corowa. He’s up in weight for this but has the talent to bounce back to winning form. 5. Blue Bayou ($7) ran well when a last start second at this track and only needs to have maintained that form to be hard to hold out again. 4. Gooloo Bucky ($7) wasn’t beaten far in the same race as Blue Bayou here when last produced, while 1. Snappy Jim ($8.50) bobs up every now and again.

How to play it: Hellinda WIN

Race 5 - 3:35PM TYRE TORQUE BATEMANS BAY CTRY BOOSTED MDN PLATE (1435M)

2. BRANNUM ($1.95 fav) was placed at his first two starts earlier in the year. He ran fourth in a trial before resuming with a close-up second at this track and a repeat of that would have him figuring in the finish. 12. Sawmill ($2.70) has been placed in five of five starts and ran home well at Grafton last time out. 5. Feedback ($12) has been placed in both runs since resuming for a new stable, while 3. C’mon Wicksy ($10) ran fourth on debut on the Acton Track and should have derived benefit from that experience.

How to play it: Brannum WIN

Race 6 - 4:10PM SCB DISTRIB LEGEND OF STH OCT 3RD CTRY BOOSTED BM66 (1435M)

2. EPAULLO CREED ($11) is a handy on-pace galloper that was placed in a couple of starts at this track and Goulburn before going to the lead and fighting on too well to score at the Sapphire Coast when last produced. He has a big weight again, but it is helped by the 3kg apprentice allowance, and he can take running down again. 7. Vermicella ($2.30 fav) ran fourth in Highway grade at Randwick before being spelled. She since resumed with a third at Warwick Farm before a last start second at this track. She has a solid record and should be in the thick of things. 11. Dolzino ($5.50) was midfield in a Rosehill Highway before a last start second at this track. 14. Ulysses Blue ($11) finished sixth at this track when last produced and has place claims.

How to play it: Epaullo Creed EACH-WAY

Race 7 - 4:45PM TURLINJAH PARK EQUESTRIAN CENTRE BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1660M)

5. BEAUER ($4.20 fav) has been racing well with a solid second at Grafton two starts ago being followed by a last start third at that track when taken to the front and battling on solidly enough. She’s drawn awkwardly in a wide gate here but can press forward again and with any luck can take beating. 4. Easement ($5) raced in a midfield position at this track when last produced and hit the line to score a strong win. He is worth plenty of thought again. 8. Region Time ($7) has been just behind the placings on the Acton Track at Canberra and then at this track at her last two starts. She could get into the minor money in this. 12. Golden Fairy ($7) was a last start second at the Sapphire Coast and is far from the worst here from the good gate.

How to play it: Beauer WIN
