John Schell's Tips For Lismore (Friday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a heavy track

Race 1 - 12:00PM VIVA RACING F&M BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1210 METRES)

3. Shore To Happen resumed from a spell with a midfield effort at Beaudesert when only beaten by 1.3 lengths. She was an easy winner at Ipswich in March and only needs to run up to that and handle the heavy track to be hard to hold out here. 2. Miss Uchitel has been midfield in two starts since a resuming third at the Sunshine Coast. She should be thereabouts in this company. 1. Our Silver Linings has a big weight to contend with but has the benefit of an apprentice allowance. She wasn’t beaten far when resuming for the new stable. 5. A Notion ran second at Port Macquarie after leading last time out and can give some cheek again.

How to play it: Shore To Happen WIN.

Race 2 - 12:40PM XXXX GOLD MAIDEN PLATE (1110 METRES)

1. Barron has had plenty of chances but has been racing well with placings in each of his four starts since resuming from a spell. He gets another chance to break through here at start 34. 6. Hayley’s Rocket was close-up when fifth at Grafton on debut. She ran well in a trial before that and looms as the main danger. 5. Aamira is on debut and has had a stable change after a number of jumpouts and a trial. 12. Tosmia resumed from a spell with a last placing at Eagle Farm and will find this easier.

How to play it: Barron WIN.

Race 3 - 1:20PM WESTPAC RESUE HELICOPTER SERVICE MAIDEN (1310 METRES)

2. Torque Ti Amo was resuming from a spell when hitting the line well for a second behind Gaylord at Grafton at just his second start. He should have derived benefit from that hitout and can go one better in this. 1. Hezanuff ran well at Grafton before failing at Coffs Harbour last time out. An improvement is on the cards. 6. Beautiful Jo has been midfield in two runs since being spelled and can get into the placings. 5. Australasia was a last start third at the Gold Coast and has claims on that performance.

How to play it: Torque Ti Amo WIN.

Race 4 - 2:00PM LISMORE FLOOR COVERINGS MAIDEN PLATE (1526 METRES)

4. Let’s Do It Again was midfield at the Gold Coast on debut and then showed improvement when a last start third at the Sunshine Coast. He has upside and can break through in this. 7. National Goal was down the track at Murwillumbah when last produced but has since been close-up in a Gold Coast trial. 3. Kemal has been midfield in his latest two starts and this looks a nice race for him to improve in. 1. Andros was placed at Murwillumbah last time out and can get into the placings again on the strength of that effort.

How to play it: Let’s Do It Again WIN.

Race 5 - 2:40PM M&T TYRES CG&E BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1210 METRES)

1. Written Fame was a well backed favourite when resuming from a spell with a close-up sixth at Grafton. He’s a winner on a heavy track and looks to be one of the leading contenders in this. 3. Rylov has been racing well and wasn’t beaten far when seventh at the Gold Coast when last produced. 7. Brave Instinction resumes from a spell here and was a heavy track winner at Ballina late last year. 10. Rockrata ran well when a last start second at Gatton and has claims on that effort.

How to play it: Written Fame WIN.

Race 6 - 3:20PM LISMORE PAINT CENTRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1110 METRES)

1. Mofeed broke his maiden in emphatic style at Scone two starts ago when racing on the speed and scoring by a big margin. He followed that up with a last start fourth at Grafton. He’s been placed on a heavy track and looks suited in this company. 4. Got The Smarts finished third in the same event Mofeed contested at Grafton and is one of the leading contenders. 7. Dizzy Dee also comes out of the Grafton event in which she finished fifth. 5. No Ragrets has been midfield in two starts since winning at Ballina.

How to play it: Mofeed WIN.

Race 7 - 4:00PM ROB POWELL PLUMBING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1526 METRES)

3. So You Can Torque is lightly raced but has a win and a placing from just five starts. He resumed from a spell with a fifth at Grafton and should be better with that run under his belt and the extra distance suits. 4. Youcompleteme is a last start Gatton winner that warrants respect with a repeat of that. 1. Champonnet ran well when a last start second at Grafton and can overcome the wide alley. 7. Rock The Machine is a chance on a Port Macquarie win two starts ago.

How to play it: So You Can Torque EACH WAY.

Race 8 - 4:40PM LISMORE WORKERS CLUB BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1410 METRES)

2. Insinuate was a Casino winner four starts ago and has since been placed in each of her three latest runs. She led when a last start second behind Ronny Bee and Grafton and looks ideally suited to get back into wining form here. 4. Calvary has a good record on heavy tracks and looks set to improve here after failing at Ipswich when last produced. 1. Viadelamore was a strong last second at the Gold Coast and drops in distance for this. 9. Lucky Neko won on a heavy track at Casino three starts ago and is a chance here on best form.

How to play it: Insinuate WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 5 (1) Written Fame.
Race 8 (2) Insinuate.

Best Value:
Race 7 (3) So You Can Torque.
