John Schell's Tips For Grafton (Wednesday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a soft track

Race 1 - 1:50PM REMEMBERING PETER LINDEMAN MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Prestige Pak was placed at this track back in March at his third start in a race and was then spelled. He resumed with a second at Murwillumbah in a small field when not having the best of luck. He’s drawn ideally in gate one in this event and gets his chance to break through with a maiden victory. 1. Insta Worthy is lightly raced and resumed from a spell with a second at Lismore as a short-priced favourite when having every chance. He is worth another chance here. 8. Zelenka was midfield at this track on debut and can figure in this with the benefit of natural improvement. 6. Egyptian Lass has been placed in her latest two starts and rounds out the small field in this.

How to play it: Prestige Pak WIN.

Race 2 - 2:25PM TOWER STREET BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1175 METRES)

4. Deep Stealth is a talented mare with a win and three placings from just the six starts. She had her chance when finishing second as favourite at Lismore when last produced but gets another chance to win again in this. 2. Dizzy Dee won well at this track at her latest start when racing on the speed and proving too good. Another forward showing is expected here. 1. Havieron was a winner at this track back in May and can sprint well fresh here first-up from a spell. 3. Kevin McKeen resumed with a second at this track and should be thereabouts again.

How to play it: Deep Stealth WIN.

Race 3 - 3:00PM HEAT OF THE RISING STAR - BM58 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

2. Royal Victory is a former South Australian having its first start in this region for a new stable. He’s had on trial in preparation and has the benefit of barrier one and an apprentice allowance. 1. All About Artie was resuming from a spell at Lismore last month and ran well when finishing second as favourite. He has a good record and should be in the thick of things. 6. Wilderness Star was placed at Port Macquarie at her latest start and can be placed again, while 10. She’s Enuff has claims on her run here two starts ago.

How to play it: Royal Victory EACH WAY.

Race 4 - 3:35PM MISTRESS ANNE JACARANDA CROWN - F&M BM58 (1600 METRES)

6. Tara Koda ran well when a last start fourth at Lismore and only needs to have maintained that form in order to be hard to hold out against this company. 1. Tietar ran well when fourth at this track when last produced and could be thereabouts with a repeat of that. 2. Without A Doubt was a close-up fifth at Lismore when resuming from a long spell, while 5. Highwire Girl won well at this track at her latest start.

How to play it: Tara Koda WIN.

Race 5 - 4:10PM STARTER MR REX KELLY RIP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1700 METRES)

1. McCosker has only had two starts and has finished third in each of them at Murwillumbah and this track. He’s drawn well here and looks perfectly placed to break through with a win. 2. Einstein’s Theory has been midfield in his latest two Port Macquarie runs and can show up here without surprising. 4. Da Silva Gold wasn’t beaten far at Casino when last produced and is not out of this, while 10. Race 6 - 4:45PM JACARANDA CUP BENCHMARK 82 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

4. She’s Exotic appreciated a drop back from city grade when scoring a strong win at this track at her latest outing. She camped just off the speed in that event and hit the line strongly to score with authority. 5. Lady Wardell has been placed in each of her latest three starts including a third at Eagle Farm three starts ago. She shouldn’t be taken lightly. 8. Super Impressive was a solid second at Taree at her last start and can be placed again, while 9. Dune And Dusted has won his latest two at this track and can show up again.

How to play it: She’s Exotic WIN.

Race 7 - 5:20PM PAN DERCI SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

5. Rupestris has only had two starts and ran fifth at Doomben on debut before resuming with a fourth at this track last time out. He looks talented and is set to break through with a win here. 11. Alkebulan was well down the track at Ipswich at her latest start on the back of a trial win and is worth another chance in this. 9. Noahdiah is a last start placegetter at this track that can get into the minor money again. 4. Evil Lover is having her first start for a new stable having formerly raced in Victoria and is worth including among the chances.

How to play it: Rupestris WIN.

Race 8 - 6:00PM CRJC LIFE MEMBERS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2200 METRES)

2. Balmierro has only won one from 24 but has had eight placings and comes into this after a last start second at Armidale. He should get the run of the race here from a good draw and take plenty of beating. 9. Purple Kitty wasn’t beaten far when third at Port Macquarie last time out and can figure again, while 7. Crimson Spirit ran third at the Gold Coast at her latest start and can get into the minor money again. 1. Ayasaki won at this track three starts ago and has claims with a repeat.

How to play it: Balmierro WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 1 (3) Prestige Pak.
Race 6 (4) She’s Exotic.

Best Value:
Race 3 (2) Royal Victory.
