'Golden' Run For Burleigh's Bonny Mare Continues

If Mosgold was a golfer you'd frame the scorecard for her last 9 holes (read starts) as fairway to heaven stuff because numbers like this just don't come along that often ....3 2 1 1 2 3 1 2 1.

The Tash Burleigh tutored mare has been a dream for connections and there she was again on Saturday leading all the way in the opener at headquarters to send another Highway Handicap back up the Hume to Goulburn.

To say Mosgold's last nine runs have been genuine would be a disservice. Since June the daughter of Sooboog has notched four wins, three seconds and two thirds over dual campaigns.

And she doesn't care where the float rolls, doing her 'handy to the speed thing' for premium results at Randwick, Goulburn, Bathurst, Nowra and even Çootamundra.

Burleigh's 'highway habit' is humming, with Saturday's win by Mosgold the trainer's sixth Highway win in just over a year!

The Goulburn trainer is absolutely rapt in Mosgold's heroics, not just on Saturday but her career to date.

"She's been amazing! Looking at those numbers like that, it's almost poetic. It's been fulfilling putting her through her grades and have her be ever so consistent," enthused Burleigh.

Burleigh pointed out the mare is mostly a no fuss type apart from keeping the grocery order tricky.

"She's so unassuming, just a little chestnut mare doing her best in life. She's of minimal fuss training wise. Bit of a picky eater, which has been stressful at times. But she's just blossoming at the moment. She's gleaming from the inside out."

"Naturally it's going to get tougher stepping up through grades, but it is exciting for the owners to wonder just how far we might go with her, she's definitely exceeded expectations thus far."

Saturday's win was Mosgold's fifth run of a bank busting campaign that started back in early October. Burleigh says the mare has plenty of options on the table from here on.

"We think she might make a mile, with that in mind we can try our luck towards a Big Dance and also have a throw at the Country Championships,'' she said.

I'll make sure she's herself in the coming week as to if we press on. There hasn't been any indication so far that she's looking for a break just yet."

Saturday's win at Royal Randwick for apprentice Jett Stanley was the mare's third run in five weeks. It comes just a fortnight after a brave runner up result in a Highway Handicap on Gong Day and takes her overall record to 12- 4: 5 :2.
