Gibbons & Lees Team Up To Continue Hot Form At Muswellbrook (Fri)

By Tony Megahey

The phenomenal combination of regional premiership trainer Kris Lees, stable jockeys Andrew Gibbons and airborne apprentice Dylan, are primed to take up at Muswellbrook’s Friday TAB meeting where they left off at Taree and the abandoned Tamworth meeting.

Dylan Gibbons [pictured below] rode a treble at Taree on Monday, a double for Lees and Andrew also rode a winner.

Dylan won the opener at Tamworth on Friday before the meeting was called off unsafe after three races on a Heavy 10.

Father and son also have prime rides for other stables on Friday

If Andrew has won riding titles with the backing of the juggernaut Newcastle stable, Dylan’s 79 winners and amazing 17p%strike rate, in just his second season, is in the zone of James McDonald.

Meanwhile, Lees gallopers One Star Shining, Leisa Louise and first starter Protectabella missed a run when Tamworth was called off and have accepted at Muswellbrook.

Leisa Louise, One Star Shining and Fu Nui are in the Magic Millions Class 3, 1450m.

“Leisa Louise is 50-50 as is also in at Newcastle, but One Star Shining and Fu Ni will go around,” explained Lees who also won with No Laughing Matter at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

“One Star Shining thrives on rain affected - he’s put two really strong wins together - progressive three-year-old.

“Fu Ni is a stayer but the track conditions will suit a closer and he’s capable of running a race fresh off two nice trials.”

Fu Ni stated favourite winning an Eagle Farm 1800m maiden and then $1.65 winning again at Lismore (2100m) last prep and has been primed by successive trials.

Lees and Dylan will also be hard to beat in the opener on Kempsey maiden winner Asherla in soft going.

At present Muswellbrook is a Soft 7 in overcast weather with the rail out 6m from 1000m-300m; then the cutaway rail applies and True the remainder.
