ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 8 # 7 – AUTUMN BOY
Keen on him and expecting him to produce a career peak with the blinkers on for the first time. The colt is an improving type on an upwards ratings spiral, and his last start in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty (1400m) was full of merit in a fast time race. Further, he had to give away a fitness edge with the track pattern against him, and he went through the line full of energy, indicating that he could only step off that performance. He now has the platform, will appreciate the rail returning to the true position, and expect him to be savaging the line, with his key attribute being closing speed.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – NEXT BEST: Race 3 # 7 – JUJA KIBO
He is a deserved short-priced favourite with his profile, and he won with style last start at the track/distance. The five-year-old was always suited, facing the breeze in a moderate tempo, but he accelerated and pulled away from his rivals to win easily. He brings a dominant last-start figure, and repeating that effort will make him hard to hold out.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – VALUE BET: Race 6 # 8 – GRAND EAGLE
Expecting him to improve sharply, getting back onto a dry surface, and he represents value in a high-quality race. The colt went out on a career peak figure last campaign, which makes him competitive in this event, and he had too much to do first-up at Kensington after starting odds-on. He is drawn to be smothered away doing no work, receives a weight swing on some of his key rivals, and although he’ll need luck, he has the closing speed to surge late to put himself in the finish.
DUBBO SUNDAY – COUNTRY PICK: Race 9 # 10 – TAVROS
He’s gone to a new level and has been impressive in his past two starts. The gelding overcame the race shape last start in the Moree Cup (1400m), and he savaged the line to score with the clock backing up his visual late strength. Further, he clocked one of the meetings' fastest final 200m splits and went through the line with style. The Craig Martin-trained runner will relish the rise in trip, the anticipated genuine race shape suits, and the big track is ideal.
