ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 7 # 9 – JUJA KIBO
He was building towards a peak performance and was impressive winning last start at Sandown. The import travelled well throughout the run before accelerating off the slow tempo and responded again when put under pressure. Further, he went through the line full of energy and clocked one of the meeting's fastest final 200m splits. The Maher-trained runner indicates he can improve again going the clockwise direction, and he's on an upward ratings spiral. In addition, he has plenty of upside and will relish getting out to the 2000m.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – VALUE BET: Race 5 # 10 – SAKIMA
Expecting her to improve sharply, and her last start was much better than the form guide reads. The mare got too far back in a slowly run race and had the bias against her, but to her credit, she built momentum and found the line solidly running a slick final 200m split. She has had a trial between runs, receives the blinkers for the first time, and her peak figure came on a heavy surface. Kerrin McEvoy rides and she maps to find the right part of the track.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 1 # 5 – AMUSING
She had been racing without luck in this preparation before overcoming the race shape last start at this track/distance, and her effort had sectional merit. The now-trained Chris-Waller galloper got to the superior ground, but Punter's Intelligence recorded her late strength, and she clocked the race's fastest final 200m split in 11.35. Although meeting a few of her rivals worse off at the weights, James McDonald rides for the first time, and she relishes rain-affected ground.
