Form Jockey Chad Lever Hopes His Luck Holds At Moruya (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Jockey Chad Lever will attempt to carry on his winning form from Forbes Cup day when he heads to Moruya for five rides on Tuesday.

Lever managed a double on Sunday at Forbes when scoring on Zoutastic and Unreal Expectation as well as finishing fourth on High Dandy in the Forbes Cup.

His Moruya mounts include a leading chance for Kembla Grange trainer Paul Murray in the shape of Gooloo Bucky ($6 on TAB) in the Clyde’s Equine Bodywork Benchmark 58 Handicap (1210m).

Gooloo Bucky broke his maiden at Moruya two starts ago on July 11 when scoring over 1200m, and he backed that up with a last start eighth when beaten 3.5 lengths.

Lever starts his day at Moruya on the Gary Crossley-prepared roughie Sacred Belief ($81) in the Oyster Shed On Wray Street Batemans Bay Maiden Plate (1020m).

The gelding is yet to be placed from eight starts.

The jockey will then partner the Tom Wilson-trained pair of Avalon Lady ($8) in the North Ryde RSL Moruya Cup Day Monday 5th January Maiden Handicap (1310m) and Giza ($3.80) in the AMH Auto Group Moruya Class 2 Handicap (1020m).

Avalon Lady has had two starts since joining the Wilson stable from trainer Nathan Doyle.

She resumed from a spell with a fourth placing at Queanbeyan before a last start fifth of five at Goulburn.

Giza heads into her event in good form having finished third at Goulburn before breaking through with her second victory when scoring at Moruya on July 21.

Lever’s other ride for the day is also for Crossley when he partners outsider Rawano ($81) in the Tyre Torque Batemans Bay Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1435m). Rawano is after his first placing at start 11.
