The rail is in the TRUE position with the track rated a Heavy 8. There was plenty of rain Fri/Sat but it has since reduced to just the slight chance of a shower on raceday and a top of 19 degrees.

Sunday 3rd August – FORBES

Race 1 - 12:15PM SHEAD & NICHOLSON/DAIKIN/SEELEY INTER. MDN (1100M)

1. CARAVANSERAI ($2 favourite on TAB) resumed from a spell for a new stable with a second at Moruya and only needs to run up to that effort to be a leading contender again. 6. Speed Of Thought ($6) led them up when finishing second at big odds at Albury at her second start. 8. Pure Melody ($15) is a filly on debut after two trials either side of a break and bears close watching. 7. Triptolemus ($2.40) an fifth on debut and has the talent to get into the placings this time.

Race 2 - 12:55PM BANKSTOWN SPORTS SINCE 1995 SHOWCASE MDN PLATE (1600M)

13. THINK I DO ($4.80) ran her best race yet when finishing second at Moruya at her latest start. She went down narrowly in that event and again gets the benefit of a 2kg apprentice allowance. She gets her chance to go one better in this. 2. Phils Colours ($21) was midfield at Warren last time out and ran second at Parkes three starts ago. 3. Pontiac ($18) finished third in the same race Think I Do finished second in at Moruya when last produced and has claims on that effort. 7. Dantains Prize ($3.10 fav) comes into this after a last start fourth at Narrandera and has place claims in this line-up.

Race 3 - 1:35PM WALKER FAMILY SHOWCASE SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300M)

3. INITIATE ($3.50) has only had six starts but has been placed in three of them. She ran second and third at Wyong before a last start fourth at Kembla Grange when only beaten two lengths. She gets her chance to break through with a victory in this. 4. Ishikari ($3.50) was a trial winner at Hawkesbury before resuming with a sixth at Newcastle and she has the talent to make an impact. 1. Castro ($10) is a former Victorian on debut for a new stable after winning a trial at Warren. 6. Blackfish ($10) had solid form last campaign and can get into the minor money first-up here.

Race 4 - 2:15PM CLUB SYDNEY THE AMAZING BEN HALL BULLET BM 82 HCP (1200M)

10. ZOUTASTIC ($2.20 fav) won a Super Maiden at Wagga in January then ran fifth at Nowra before being spelled. She resumed with a solid fourth at Hawkesbury before scoring again in good style at Grafton as favourite last time out. 2. Miss Jennifer ($3.90) has been midfield at Rosehill and Grafton of late and has the talent to give this a shake. 6. Deion ($4.60) is a consistent performer that can give cheek here. 3. Castlebar Road ($16) is a talented sprinter that has the ability to get into the placings.

Race 5 - 2:55PM FORBES SHIRE COUNCIL SHOWCASE CTRY BOOSTED BM 58 (1400M)

1. SORRY SUNSHINE ($11) has won at Corowa and Wagga in two of his latest four starts. He ran fourth at Albury last time out and is drawn to get the run of the race. 2. Give Me Joy ($2.70 fav) ran well when second on the Canberra Acton two starts ago before a last start eighth at Grafton. 3. Slush Fund ($44.0) is a last start Bathurst winner that can show up again here with a repeat of that effort. 5. Street Swagger ($9.50) followed a Cowra win with a last start Moree third and is worth including among the main chances.

How to play it: Sorry Sunshine WIN

Race 6 - 3:35PM FORBES SCRAP METAL/CARLTON & UTD BREWERIES CL1 (1400M)

1. UNREAL EXPECTATION ($4) was placed on the Canberra Acton track at his first two starts before breaking through with a victory at Bathurst. 8. Avvertimento ($16) was close-up at Bathurst last time out and can get into the minor money here, while 10. Green Pineapple ($2.25 fav) is a last start placegetter that warrants respect. 7. A Boy Named Soo ($11) is a last start third placegetter at Warren that can show up again with a repeat.

How to play it: Unreal Expectation WIN

Race 7 - 4:10PM BANKSTOWN SPORTS *BIG DANCE* FORBES CUP (1600M)

14. VICTORY ROLL ($51) is a talented middle-distance type that has had three runs back from a spell and should be ready to peak now. His latest effort at Moruya was solid and he has the advantage of barrier one in this. 6. Due Calzini ($15) has been racing well over longer trips of late and only needs to overcome an awkward alley here to take beating. 3. High Dandy ($1.75 fav) gave a good sight when racing on the speed and finishing second at Randwick last time out in Midway company. 5. County Kilkenny ($15) comes into this after an eighth in the Narrandera Cup.

How to play it: Victory Roll EACH-WAY

Race 8 - 4:45PM CLUB FORBES SHOWCASE CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1100M)

6. ABSTRUSE ($6.50) has performed well being placed in each of her latest two starts at Moruya. She’s worked to the line well in each of those runs and has drawn ideally in gate two here. 1. Party Doll ($4.40) is talented at best and has a good place strike rate. She wasn’t far away when a last start fourth at Bathurst. 2. Navios ($8.50) finished sixth in the same Bathurst race that Party Doll contested and he warrants consideration on that effort. 3. Never Fails ($5) ran well in an Highway at Rosehill when last produced and only needs to run up to that to be hard to hold out against these.
