Date Change A Winner For Muswellbrook Cup

Muswellbrook Race Club is gearing up for its feature race meeting next Friday 8th December with the Muswellbrook Gold Cup now carrying $100,000 in prizemoney.

General Manager Duane Dowell said interest has been even more encouraging than last year, indicating this year’s Cup day will be the biggest turn out for quite a number of years.

Dylan’s Rojo (Mitchell Bell) winning last year’s Muswellbrook Cup for Kim Waugh.

“The Cup now in December has opened up the opportunity for businesses to use the day as a Christmas party for their workers and we’ve received a large number of enquiries from business owners,” Dowell said.

Moving the Cup day away from the traditional Melbourne Cup date in 2016 proved a winning decision for the club with greater crowd numbers and increased turnover.

“Since we moved our date, it has allowed us greater exposure to the wider community and we are very much becoming an emerging Cup Carnival on the NSW racing calendar,” Dowell added.

“We’ve received a good number of race nominations already so I’m excited about how our fields will look next week.”

Nominations close at 11am on Monday. More info at http://www.muswellbrookraceclub.com.au
