Danielle's Due A Country Cup Success (Cootamundra Sunday)

By John Schell

Trainer Danielle Seib and jockey Pierre Boudvillain will head to Cootamundra on Sunday with two leading chances set to go around.

Seib has been enjoying a good run of success of late and is hoping to continue the form at Cootamudra where she has the favourite in the feature event.

Seib has Due Calzini in the Central Hotel Cootamundra Cup (1600m), while she also has Hellinda in the Riverina Ford Benchmark 66 Handicap (1100m).

Boudvillain will partner both of Seib’s gallopers and she expects them to run well.

“Due Calzini is a very good horse, he’s been good for us, and I’m hoping that he can go on with the job on Sunday,” said Seib.

“He has a great record with four wins and six placings from 20 starts, and he has had a solid trial since a last start win over a longer distance at Wagga.”

Hellinda has a consistent record and finished second at Corowa at his latest start.

“He’s only won the two races from 23 starts, but he has finished second nine times so he’s never too far away,” Seib said.

“It looks a suitable race for him on Sunday.”

Wagga trainer Tim Donnelly has County Kilkenny lining up in the $32,000 Cootamundra Cup again on the back of a second in the event last year.

Triner Nick Olive also has a leading chance set to run at Cootamundra in the shape of Epaullo Creed in the Cootamundra Cup.

Epaullo Creed has been racing well and finishing in the money of late and is set to give a good sight from on the speed. Jockey Billy Owen will take the ride, and the son of Golden Rose winner Epaulette should take plenty of running down.

Matthew Dale will have one runner set to start at Cootamundra with Ready To Rush in the NXT Signs Maiden Handicap (1100m).

Boudvillain will partner Ready To Rush, which is on debut after two trials and will start from barrier one.

Dale has his team firing strong with Front Page, So You Pence and Boston Rocks set to contest The Kosciuszko at Randwick on October 18.
