Coonamble Winners - Tips For Sunday 21st June

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Coonamble on Sunday.

Race 1 - 12:30PM PIERS THOMPSON AND JAMIE BARKLEY 2YO SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

Two-year-old Proisir gelding 4. Ananagram ran seventh on debut behind Kumasi at Gosford in a slick race. He was tipped straight out and tackled a bottomless track at Muswellbrook first up last Sunday holding down fourth behind Never Talk. He undoubtedly offers the strongest form lines.

Dangers: 2. Sir Swayze has the most experience in the field and comes here a last start Grafton winner. 1. Praline looks a risk at 1200m while 6. Miss Starlight was given a very easy time in her one trial, so monitor betting.

How to play it: Ananagram WIN ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: EVENS

Race 2 - 1:05PM ROB COOPER SHOWCASE 3YO & UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

4. Japingka had her first run for Kody Nestor last start at Dubbo and although she ran second as a beaten favourite she is certainly worth another chance out to a more suitable 1200m second up. Had solid provincial form in preparations prior. Perfectly placed.

Dangers: A maiden win isn’t far away for 3. Poster Man on the strength of his two runs back this time in for his new trainer Bryan Dixon. Chased home Scorched Lad on Tuesday. 11. Raposa brings a strong SP profile from last start.

How to play it: Japingka WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 3 - 1:45PM JASON ROBERTS & PAUL SAAD SHOWCASE MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

5. Spilia had to go right back to the rear at his first run for Darren Hyde but loved the way he surged late to nab third. It was the run of a coming winner and drawn low in this with Grant Buckley steering, he’ll be much closer. Very hard to beat.

Dangers: 14. Wild Rocket is racing like the mile will suit while the same can be said for roughie 3. Godfrey Park, although drawn awkwardly. 6. Terry Tuffnut comes through the same race as Spilia and deserves respect.

How to play it: Spilia WIN ($2.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 2:20PM BRIAN & WENDY FLETCHER SHOWCASE CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

1. Risk And Reward holds the key to this race as he only has to hold his form to win. He is a speed horse and won’t be without company up front in this but a last start second to Kookabaa at Mudgee with a gap back to third reads exceptionally well for this. Has been kept fresh since.

Dangers: 7. Sticks ‘N’ Stones fell short in a Highway Handicap last start but won two on the bounce prior to that and could be the one flooding home late if the leaders overdo it in front.

How to play it: Risk And Reward WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 5 - 2:59PM SWANNY'S FROZEN FOODS SHOWCASE F&M CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

2. A Room Somewhere was gunned down late at Tamoworth last start after kicking clear in the straight. No excuses now third up out to 1300m in a race where he should get a degree of control from in front with Grant Buckley in the saddle. He is ready to win.

Dangers: 11. Stellar Blaze might finally be putting it all together now having cracked her maiden last start in a time that stacked up well on the day. There was nothing between 1. Tombolo and 6. Rose Of Savannah last start.

How to play it: A Room Somewhere WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 3:33PM GRAEME COLLESS SHOWCASE CG&E CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

Luck has deserted 1. Niccirose in her two runs this time back. He is going much better than the form guide suggests. Was chopped out first up at Scone and was untested to the linebefore running out of room again second up. Had trialled nicely prior. This race suits.

Dangers: 5. Liberty Head is worth saving on. The three-year-old is going super for Peter Sinclair and back out to 1300m is perfect. 7. Arrivederci is untapped but needs to improve to match the top two.

How to play it: Niccirose WIN ($7.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 7 - 4:07PM NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS SHOWCASE COONAMBLE CANNONBALL (1100 METRES)

The last time 1. Burning Crown raced at Coonamble he obliterated his rivals, and the clock. Forget he ever ran last start at Randwick on a wet track after a five week break. He did start $3 favourite though as his form prior had been very good. He is very well in with the 55kg minimum.

Dangers: 5. Tim’s Principal is a second up specialist (5:2-2-0) which suggests this has been a target race. His record is better over 1200m though. 9. Kookabaa has been a great pickup for Gayna Williams and deserves his crack in this company.

How to play it: Burning Crown WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 8 - 4:48PM KEADY FAMILY & NALDER FAMILY BENCHMARK 58 SHOWCASE HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

The most open race of the day but siding with 3. Crystal Billy as he is capable of spearing forward to offset the wide draw. Was a dominant all the way winner beating Nodeel two back before just going down at the picnics.

Dangers: 4. Thiswilldous has drawn off the track but has been around the money recently and this is very winnable for him. The toppie 1. Butter Toast goes into the multiples at odds.

How to play it: Crystal Billy WIN ($7 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
