Bathurst’s Biggest Prizemoney Race Of The Year

Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing will be celebrating its sixth running of the Bathurst Cup Legends Day, attracting some of the best horses from all over country NSW.

The Sunday 11th February meeting is the second biggest in Bathurst with eight top quality races.

The day honours many of the racing legends from Bathurst and surrounds with each race named after former top trainers, jockeys or horses.

Races have been named after Tulloch, Hugh Bowman, Bill Aspros, The Barb, Ida Traill and Gold Circle.

It will also be a Showcase meeting with minimum prizemoney of $30,000 for total stakes of $275,000. The Cup is the feature and carries prizemoney of $50,000.

Special guest for the day is John Letts [pictured left], the former Australian jockey whose career spanned almost 30 years and rode 2350 winners. His total of 97 Cup wins – 30 in the city and 67 in the country, has never been bettered.

John hung up his saddle in 1988 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010. The former hoop will be sharing his stories throughout the afternoon in the function in the upstairs grandstand.

The club will be holding a free sausage sizzle and if you’re after something special there is a VIP Trackside marquee tickets available or you can simply enjoy the atmosphere on the front lawn. Gates open at 11 am so come and enjoy a day wonderful day at the races.
