All Rivers Run To Sapphire Coast On Sunday

Braidwood trainer Aaron Clarke will be making the three-hour trek to Sapphire Coast Racecourse this Sunday to further test the ability of his promising filly Little River Rose.

Clarke has entered Little River Rose for both the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1200m) and the Class 2 Handicap (1000m).

The three-year-old filly by Your Song has only raced on eight occasions for two wins including a last start Cowra victory over 950m when well-fancied ($2.80 into $2.50 favouritism).

Clarke, who only has around a dozen horses in work, ventured to Sapphire Coast in May where he scored a win with Bon Frankie.

At just 16, Clarke played for Australia in the polocrosse World Cup where he was voted ‘Player of the Series’.

Sunday’s meeting is South Coast Timber Eden Cup Raceday with a seven-race card, local and interstate bookmakers, a TAB, food and beverage services, as well as picnic and family friendly areas.

Gates open at midday with free buses to and from the course, see the website for bus times – sapphirecoastturfclub.com.au

The day is proudly sponsored by South Coast Timber, Eden Tyre Power, Eden Sports and Recreation Club, Great Southern Inn, Bald Hills Engineering, Horse and Hound Bodyworks and Australasia Hotel.

Also next Sunday is Coffs Harbour’s Sawtell Cup and Daniel Baker Prelude Raceday.

Port Macquarie trainer Tas Morton has entered his two warriors Acoustix and Mister Smartee for the $30,000 Sawtell RSL Sawtell Cup (1500m).

There are also seven races programmed with plenty of outside seating, bar facilities and food options.

All Sawtell RSL Members receive free entry by showing their members card at the gate.

Coffs Harbour Racing Club will host a Sawtell Cup luncheon and tickets includes entry, gourmet lunch, four-hour drinks package, racebook, premium allocated seating and a private balcony.

General admission guests will have access to the Merv Mercer Lounge and trackside.

Just 11 days later, on Thursday 4 August, CHRC stages Moonee Beach Hotel Gold Cup Day for the 57th occasion.

“The Moonee Beach Hotel Gold Cup has grown to be an iconic part of the Mid North Coast events calendar,” said CHRC’s CEO, Tim Saladine.

“We’ll have an eight-race TAB program with a large on-track screen, centrally located bars and delicious food options provided by the talented ‘Spare Chef’.”

Meanwhile, next Saturday is a special raceday at Royal Randwick as ATC Foundation & ASX Refinitiv Foundation take the reins to raise much needed funds for those in need.

It is only fitting that the day not only about racing and its achievements, but also about giving back to the community.

Racing for Good-Charity Raceday will host its inaugural lunch in the ballroom including a car raffle for a KIA STONIC, three-course lunch. 5½ hour beverage package, live charity auction, The Big Bet and bookmaker facilities and a live band.

Individual tickets are $290 and can be purchased via australianturfclub.com.au
