Kembla Trainers To The Fore In Sky Racing Provincial Summer Series

Local stables will be well represented in Saturday’s fourth qualifying heat of the rich $350,000 Sky Racing Provincial Summer series to be run at Kembla Grange.

Trainers Robert and Luke Price and leading Kembla trainer Glenda Markwell have both accepted with three runners each, and with another local Theresa Bateup being represented, Kembla trainers have seven of the 13 runners in Saturday’s $40,000 event.

The first three placegetters in each of the five series races qualify for the $150,000 final which will be run at Wyong on Saturday, 2 January 2021. The series is restricted to horses trained at one of the five Provincial tracks.

The Kris Lees-trained lightly raced mare Game Of Thorns looms as a top chance to qualify at Kembla. Game Of Thorns had black type form as a 3yo and was placed third in a $250,000 mares race over 1600m at Flemington on Oaks day in November and is resuming here after a short break.

The final qualifying race in this very competitive Sky Racing Provincial Summer series will be run at Newcastle on December 19.
