Team Snowden Prepares For A Big Day Out At Newcastle

By Gary Harley

Newcastle Hunter Hall of Fame Inductee, Peter Snowden and his son Paul, will send five of their team to Saturday’s Newcastle race meeting and all five will be well fancied.

The barrier draws have been kind to the Snowden team with all five starting from barriers one to six.

The Snowden’s runners are Mirra View, Starmoss, Harlem Luya, Ka Bling and Satin Ribbons.

Mirra View has only raced twice and she hit the line hard when placed first-up at Wyong recently.

She has drawn barrier three in The Prince of Merewether Maiden Handicap (1200m) with Mitchell Bell aboard.

The three-year-old colt Starmoss is fitter for two recent starts and he contests the OAS Technology 3YO Maiden Handicap (1300m).

Harlem Luya wasn’t far away first-up on this track and from the perfect draw she will be hard to beat in the Sharp Office Benchmark 68 Handicap (1200m).

The speedy Satin Ribbons, who was an impressive Newcastle winner in June, resumes in the final event The Australian Bloodstock Benchmark 64 Handicap (900m).

Peter Snowden discussed the prospects of his team on Thursday saying: “Our best two chances are Ka Bling and Satin Ribbons.

"We scratched Ka Bling from the Kembla meeting on Thursday because of the heavy track. I wouldn’t like the track on Saturday to be worse than a soft.

"Ka Bling was very good last start and he will run well. Satin Ribbons is a fast and talented filly and she has good soft track form.

"We have only given her the one trial and she went great. She won at Newcastle before a spell and the filly draws well on Saturday.

"Starmoss went better last start and has a chance”.
