Neil Evans' Selections For Wyong Races (Weds)

By Neil Evans

The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3m the entire circumference. The Wyong forecast is for a sunny day with the slight chance of a shower and a top of 35 degrees.

Race 1 - 1:45PM RARITY WHOLESALE 4YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE (1600M)

4. COURTING EMILY ($3.80) was unwanted in betting when making reasonable ground first-up at Hawkesbury and will appreciate the extra trip, along with a softer draw. 5. Currahee ($4) steps out for only his second run for the Ciaron Maher yard since transferring down from Hong Kong. Worked home okay when resuming in that same Gosford race as the top selection. 8. Bohemian Art ($2.90 favourite on TAB) is tracking to peak third-up through that same form-line, while 3. Celebrity ($3) is a four-year-old by Melbourne Cup winner Shocking on debut for the Bjorn Baker stable, and looks fitted to run this trip out behind two steady trials up to 1250m.

How to play it: Courting Emily to win

Race 2 - 2:20PM DE BORTOLI WINES 3YO & UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000M)

1. DIFRONZO ($2.25 fav) is an exciting three-year-old on debut for the Team Archibald stable. By high class and prolific sire Street Boss, the horse is drawn to get an economical run and given plenty of time with two recent trials. 4. Weekend Market ($2.90) improves into her second start coming back from metropolitan company. 8. Tigletta ($3.70) resumes for a second prep behind two trials for the Baker yard, and heads the rest.

How to play it: Difronzo to win

Race 3 - 2:55PM DOMELAND MIDWAY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1350M)

3. PURPLE ROSE ($1.50 fav) is a progressive city mare and seemingly has this at her mercy after a dominant all-the-way win when resuming at Canberra as a hot favourite. Was in the money three times from fours runs across her initial prep, but has come back stronger and has the right tactical speed to utilise the inside draw. 1. Last Druid ($2.50) is trained on the track and hard fit deep into the prep. Drawn to get a handy trail and can run the quinella. The rest are likely to just make up the numbers headed by 2. Liamena Avenue ($11) who can run into the minor money coming off a second-up win in a weak country maiden.

How to play it: Purple Rose to win / take quinella 1 and 3

Race 4 - 3:30PM CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES PROV. MAIDEN PLATE (1350M)

4. I AM CARROT ($1.80 fav) is lightly raced and primed to break through second-up on his home track. Took on Listed company over further through winter before spelling, then chased gallantly over too short a distance when resuming at Gosford behind a more than handy winner. Drawn to park right behind the speed and the extra 250m is a big plus. 9. Lune D’excellence ($5.50) can give this a shake second-up over further, with blinkers going on. Hit the line when resuming in the country off a five-month break, and is right up to this tougher test, drawn alongside the top selection. Also scratched from Tamworth on Tuesday to be saved for this. 6. Rustemo ($4) has beaten all but the winner in three country Super Maidens this prep. Has earned a crack back at provincial opposition, with enough tactical speed to offset a tricky barrier.

How to play it: I Am Carrot to win

Race 5 - 4:05PM GOSFORD AIR CLASS 1 HCP - HEAT OF THE RISING STAR (1100M)

2. COLUMBIA BLUE ($1.80 fav) has found the right race and an ideal draw to kick off a second prep with a bang. Made strong progress in initial campaign, bolting in his maiden at only second start before sticking on strongly into a place when stepping up sharply to metro BM 64 grade. Fitted with two trials at home for the Joe Pride stable, and can naturally settle on speed with the jockey taking 2kg off. 8. Sapling ($4.20) is a versatile filly resuming off two progressive trials for an emerging stable. Looks the clear quinella runner. 10. Myriad ($3.70) comes off a dominant country maiden win first-up but under the odds here, while another one resuming off two trials 1. Harlex ($9) can add value into trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Columbia Blue to win

Race 6 - 4:40PM ABCOE CENTRAL COAST BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1300M)

2. SISU SPIRIT ($2.50 fav) is a capable galloper from the Waterhouse-Bott yard well placed to pounce first-up off a 26-week break. Won two straight last prep, including a Class 1 at this track over a mile. Reportedly has worked well in and around two trials and drawn to take up a position on or near the speed. 3. Lugarno ($4.40) draws wide for his first run since May, but won the second of two spaced trials here and normally comes to hand quickly. 8. Zale ($9) is shooting for a fourth straight win this prep, but taking on some better and tougher ones here from a trickier draw.

How to play it: Sisu Spirit to win

Race 7 - 5:15PM CENTRAL COAST COMMUNITY NEWS BENCHMARK 68 HCP (2100M)

3. SUBARCTIC ($2.80 fav) won’t get a better chance to claim a long overdue fourth win fifth-up in what is a moderate line-up for this level. Struggled late on the Beaumont Track two starts ago before ridden quieter at Hawkesbury and ran home hard to miss by under a length. Stronger depth in that field and hard fit with a superior jockey taking over, this shapes as his race to lose. 5. Presley ($3) has mixed his form in three runs this prep, but comes back from a much tougher metro BM 78, and well capable of beating this lot. Gap to the rest headed by 7. Anulfa ($7) coming off a dominant front-running win in weaker class at Gosford, and draws the fence.

How to play it: Subarctic to win
