It's Go Time As Parker Mare's Back In Comfort Zone (Kembla Saturday)

Home turf and a drop back in grade have consistent mare Let’s Go Again ready to fire at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

Trainer Kerry Parker decided to test his daughter of Turffontein in two heats of the Provincial-Midway Championships where she performed admirably.

But the home track conditioner believes Let’s Go Again ($5) will be better suited in the City Of Wollongong RSL Sub-Branch Gallipoli Cup Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m).

“It was a bit of a throw at the stumps with the Provincial-Midway series, taking the blinkers off and trying to get her to stretch out a bit more but I’ve put the blinkers back on and brought her back to 1200m,” Parker said.

“She is a genuine little horse.

“You point her in the right direction and she will try hard."

Nick Heywood, who is in the mix for the NSW jockeys’ premiership, will pilot Let’s Go Again as she chases a third win in 10 starts.

Parker has Heliconia and Flying Betty in the Illawarra RSL Sub-Branches Provincial Maiden Handicap (1300m).

Heliconia ($9) is a daughter of Hallowed Crown and is yet to have a start but has trialled up well before her debut where Jeff Penza is booked to ride.

“She is a filly that’s going to get over ground,” Parker said.

“She is a nice enough filly, still a little new and will probably have this start and go to the paddock.

“It’s been an educational prep for her but she’s done enough to suggest she should go to the races and learn what it’s all about.”

Flying Betty started her career with Nathan Doyle and had one start for the Group 1 winning trainer, finishing seventh in a 1300m maiden at Tuncurry.

Parker is still learning about the Trapeze Artist filly, which has had one trial since joining his Kembla yard.

“They were a bit sharp for her in the barrier trial and I didn’t see the point in giving her another barrier trial over 800m so decided to put her in a 1300m event,” Parker said.

“She is by Trapeze Artist so I thought we might get a better guide over 1300m in a race than I would in another 800m trial.”

Flying Betty ($31) will be ridden by Jean Van Overmeire.
