Provincial racing heads to The Entertainment Grounds at Gosford this Saturday with a strong eight-race card planned.

With many local trainers represented, Angela Davies looks to have a live chance in the LCD Debt Solutions BM 65 over 1200m. Davies has had a consistent run of late with eight winners and 12 placings from her past 50 starts, and her charger Sir Magic aims to continue that great run.

This Magic Albert five-year-old gelding has won four from 14, and did win over this track and trip last preparation. Coming into this event third-up, and drawn handily in gate two, he will look to be fighting out the finish on his home surface.

Another local trainer Gregory McFarlane saddles up two hopes in the Berkshire BPO 2YO Maiden over 1000m. Avid General debuts for the McFarlane camp, and he has a solid understanding of the family, also training the half-brother Go Joyce Go to two wins from six outings to date.

McFarlane’s other runner in the event is the Dream Ahead gelding Flash Stinger. Coming off a handy trial at Wyong May 7th, and having drawn well in gate four, jockey Jake Hull will look to find a nice run in transit.

The Airpak Sheet Metal Maiden over 1100m kicks off the day’s proceedings, with two local hopes taking on the larger metropolitan stables. The Kylie Gavenlock-trained The Big Vin finished third at Hawkesbury in his only start to date, and that was on the back of an impressive trial win here at The Entertainment Grounds.

Carmen Murnane has the former South Australian galloper Khitaamy engaged in the same event, coming off two improved runs at Wyong over the past six weeks. The Delago Deluxe three-year-old gelding has impressed at his only two starts in the state for Murnane and gets his chance in the small field on Saturday.

Gates open at 11am, with the first race scheduled for 11.39am. Free entry is on offer to all Sydney Roosters vs Gold Coast Titans NRL ticket holders. Panorama Lounge and Open Terrace hospitality packages are also available.
