Blake Hoping Santasia Sends Off 2023 In Style (Gosford Sunday)

Hawkesbury based trainer Blake Ryan has high hopes he can enjoy a great end to the year at Gosford on Sunday.

Ryan has a number of top chances set to contest the meeting, and he has no doubt his horses have the ability to go on with the job.

Ryan has Santasia set to contest the Central Coast Mariners Midway 3YO Maiden Plate (1000m).

"Santasia is a speedy horse and I hope she's not becoming too one dimensional," said Ryan.

"She's the type of horse that could come out and win by four lengths or come out and get beat by the same margin.

"She's a bit of a hot head but she'll be ok."

Ryan has debut winner Lady Extreme set to contest the Rock At The Races 23 March Provincial Class 1 Handicap (1100m).

“She did the job pretty well to score on debut at her first start,” said Ryan.

“I think she’s a horse that has plenty of ability. She might be a limited with what she’s racing against but she’s on the way up and should be on the up.”

Ryan will also have another leading chance when Galactic Angel tackles the Farewell Lara F&M Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m).

“Galactic Angel is a horse that has been racing pretty well,” said Ryan.

“She’s a mare that won well last time out and I’d expect her to run well again.

“The win at Goulburn was full of merit and if she runs up to that she’ll figure in the thick of things.”

Sunday’s Gosford meeting will also attract interest with trainer Mark Minervini having a couple of leading contenders.

The former South Australian horseman has Toyger contesting the Central Coast Mariners Midway 3YO Maiden Plate (1000m).

Minervini also has New Republic set to contest the Mayor’s Cup – Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap (1900m).

“He’s a horse that has been racing very well,” said Minervini.

“His form has been very consistent and if he goes on with the job he will be hard to beat in whatever he contests.”
