Outcome Of Appeal - Licensed Jockey Michael Travers

Licensed jockey Michael Travers lodged an appeal against conviction and penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR137(a) after his ride on Belle Tournure in Race 6 (Elders Real Estate Batemans Bay Christmas Cup, 1300m) at Moruya Racecourse on Sunday, 23 December 2018.

Following a Stewards inquiry, Mr Travers was suspended for a period commencing Thursday, 27 December and to expire on Thursday, 3 January 2019 on which day he may ride. This Appeal was heard on Friday, 28 December 2018 commencing at 8:30am.

The Appeal Panel gave the following orders:

  1. Appeal against finding of breach of AR137(a) dismissed
  2. Appeal against severity of penalty allowed
  3. In lieu of a 5 meeting suspension, a 1 meeting suspension is confirmed, such penalty to commence on Thursday, 27 December 2018 and to expire Sunday, 30 December 2018 on which day he may ride
  4. 50% of deposit refunded
