When You're On A Good Thing, Stick To It! (Warwick Farm, Weds)

By Neil Evans

With a rock-solid 22% winning strike rate from his last 50 runners - including a double at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday - leading home track trainer Bjorn Baker is out to repeat the dose, or even go one better, at Wednesday's feature Warwick Farm meeting.

Perhaps his best hope comes in a Benchmark 72 (Stud and Stable Staff Awards Handicap, 1000m) with exciting filly Rupertaar ($2.80 favourite on TAB) who shoots for a third straight win this prep at her metro debut.

The versatile daughter of former high-class speedster Winning Rupert has twice put handy provincial fields to the sword, both leading and from off the speed, and she looks well capable of taking this next step.

Rupertaar draws inside under a light weight after Jenny's Duggan claim, and it's doubtful there's another runner in the race more comfortable on soft ground.

In the final race, the TAB Handicap, 1200m, a BM 72, tough six-year-old Off Shaw ($5 equal favourite) resumes behind two eye-catching open class trials.

Already with a 25% win record from only 20 starts, with two of those first-up, Off Shaw rates a serious chance in a race that could prove a very handy form guide.

In a more open and tricky BM 72 affair for the older boys (XXXX Handicap, 1400m), Baker saddles up Savabeel five-year-old Savoury ($6.50) fourth-up, and just seven days after charging late to miss narrowly in a similar race at the track.

The quick turnaround is a sure-fire sign the gelding has done well since, and this shapes as a race with much less depth.

Completing the Baker stable's four-pronged attack is talented and lightly raced four-year-old O'tartan Lass ($7) who returns for her first run since mid April, and her metropolitan debut.

While she's at bigger odds in a wider market for another BM 72 over 1400m (Bowermans Handicap) for the older mares, the daughter of Press Statement can remind everyone how quickly she comes to hand.

O'tartan Lass won three from four convincingly in the country last prep, but this is the first time she will face the city starter despite having debuted for the stable nearly two years ago.
