Top Jockeys Battle Heats Up On Winter Challenge Day (Rosehill Gardens)

The $200,000 Listed-Toyota Forklifts Winter Challenge headlines a return to Rosehill Gardens this Saturday on a 10-race card as the Sydney racing season enters its final weeks.

Saturday’s meeting is the fourth last of the Sydney Metropolitan season as two of the world’s best jockeys in James McDonald and Nash Rawiller battle for the 2023/24 premiership title.

Following the Kensington Track meeting yesterday, McDonald (84 metro wins) maintains a three-win lead over Rawiller on 81.

James McDonald [pictured left] has been booked for 10 rides this Saturday while Rawiller as it stands on Thursday morning had six mounts.

The race for the senior jockey title comes as apprentice Zac Llloyd on 60.5 wins – and fifth on the overall table – heads to his champion apprentice title in Sydney.

Last-start winner War Eternal for trainer and jockey combination of Bjorn Baker and Rachel King has been a strongly backed from $3.60 into $3 TAB favourite in the feature race.

Another last-start Listed winner in Tamerlane trained by James Cummings with Zac Lloyd aboard is $4.80 alongside Joe Pride’s King Of The Castle ($4.80) to be ridden by Tyler Schiller.

Full fields for the Rosehill Gardens meeting are available HERE and full TAB odds for all races HERE.

Saturday sees the ongoing Winter Long Lunch and Christmas in July offers continue in the Winning Post Restaurant at Rosehill Gardens. Full details of the offers are available HERE.
