Sydney Racing Double-Header Kicks Off At Canterbury Park (Friday Night)

Sydney will enjoy a huge weekend of racing this Friday night and Saturday, starting with the launch of the Kia Friday Night Racing Season at Canterbury Park this Friday.

It will be followed by a bumper meeting at Royal Randwick on Saturday with live coverage of Sydney’s mighty mare Winx and her historic bid to win a fourth Cox Plate.

The popular Canterbury Park Foodies Market, free entry and free children’s entertainment will again be part of 10 meetings between 26 October and 22 February for the Kia Friday Night Racing Season.

This Friday’s Schweppes Opening Night will also feature top Sydney jockey Jason Collett and visiting NZ star Sam Weatherley signing autographs for race fans.

Patrons at Canterbury Park will also have the chance to win $1,000 in the Kia Friday Night Giveaway by simply filling out a form on course and entering into a draw.

Gates open on Friday at 4.45pm for ATC Members and 5pm for General Admission entry, with the first race at 6.15pm and the final event at 9.45pm.

Royal Randwick hosts its last Saturday raceday for this spring carnival as it joins with the rest of Australia to witness Sydney’s mighty mare Winx and her historic bid to win a fourth Cox Plate.

Saturday’s nine-race card at Royal Randwick starts at 12.55pm with the last race at Royal Randwick at 6pm. ATC Members' gates open at 11.45am, and at midday for general admission ticket holders.

Travel to and from Royal Randwick on Sydney trains, buses, ferries and light rail services is included in pre-purchased general admission tickets, along with ATC Annual Membership cards.

The Cox Plate at Moonee Valley – to be shown live on Australia’s biggest infield screen and across hundreds of televisions at Royal Randwick – is due to jump at 5pm AEDT.

It will be the fifth consecutive Saturday at Royal Randwick ahead of one of Sydney’s biggest racedays, The Agency Melbourne Cup Race Day Meeting on Tuesday 6 November at Royal Randwick.

General admission tickets for The Agency Melbourne Cup Race Day Meeting pre-purchased at - theraces.com.au - before 30 October receive a 20% discount.
