Royal Randwick Heats Up For Summer Festival Of Racing

Royal Randwick hosts the Australian Turf Club’s continuing Summer Festival of Racing this Saturday for a 10-race card as Sydney celebrates the week leading into Christmas.

It is the second Saturday raceday for all customers to enjoy Sydney’s new $46.6 million WINX Stand trackside and adjacent along the famous Leger Lawn.

Following a popular and successful opening for The Agency Villiers Day, the WINX Stand will again be open across both levels – included at no extra charge for all on-course spectators.

The National Jockeys Trust will be part of Saturday’s raceday, holding a function in the Royal Randwick Ballroom for almost 400 people. The function thanks and recognises jockeys past and present, including a group of retired injured jockeys.

Australian Turf Club will also celebrate one of its own with Race 2 on Saturday named the ATC Thanks John Williams. Mr Williams has worked in Sydney racing and the Club for almost 50 years and retires from the ATC and from his current role as a gardener with the Tracks Team.

Saturday’s raceday also sees the return of Invades featuring live music throughout the day on the Octagonal Lawn to a near sold-out crowd of 2000 people.

The second Invades event featuring Client Liaison has been successful in bringing younger audiences for a day at the track. The Royal Randwick track was rated a soft 5 on Thursday morning.
