Royal Randwick & Sporting Chance Continue A Long Run For Charity

Royal Randwick hosts a return to Saturday Sydney metropolitan racing for a 10-race card, a raceday with a long-time charity partner and the start of a special hospitality offer ahead of the winter racing season.

Australian Turf Club joins for the 17th year with Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation (SCCF) at Royal Randwick in support of outreach nurses helping young cancer patients.

Saturday sees the launch of the ATC’s new Winter Long Lunch – a $155 three-course dining sensation in Royal Randwick’s premium restaurant The Chairman’s Club with full details of the offer available HERE.

The meeting has attracted a huge 161 entries and includes races sponsored by supporters of Sporting Chance’s Outreach Programs for children with cancer and their families at Randwick’s Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Up to 400 guests will also be in the Royal Randwick Ballroom raising funds and awareness to add to the more than $15 million raised for nurses to help children with cancer to remain at home for as long as possible whilst still undergoing treatment.

After providing funds to Westmead Children’s Hospital for 15 years, SCCF has branched out to Randwick Sydney Children’s Hospital for the James Tedesco Outreach Program.

Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation was started in 1998 by former Australian Cricket Captain Mark Taylor, rugby league legend the late Reg Gasnier, Olympian Raelene Boyle and triple AFL Brownlow Medalist Bob Skilton.

The Foundation’s Jack Hughes said: “Following last year’s successful raceday we now have the James Tedesco Outreach Program up and running at Randwick.

“This adds to the three nurses currently working in our Mark Taylor Outreach program at Westmead.

“We couldn’t do this without the fantastic support of our major sponsor Fujitsu Airstage, race sponsors, the fantastic team at the ATC and everyone who has supported Saturday’s ballroom function.”

Full fields for Saturday’s Royal Randwick card are available HERE and full TAB markets for all races HERE.

The Winter Long Lunch will officially launch Saturday 25 May and run until 31 August, available for both Members and non-members. For $155 per person, guests can indulge in the ultimate raceday experience at the prestigious Chairman’s Club at Royal Randwick or The Winning Post at Rosehill Gardens.

This exclusive offer allows guests to enjoy a luxurious culinary journey curated by renowned Executive Chefs, Craig Knudsen and Chris Reali, commencing with a glass of Moët & Chandon champagne on arrival.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Winter Long Lunch as a new premium dining experience at our venues,” said Matt Galanos, CEO of ATC. “This event is a celebration of the vibrant food culture in Sydney and we are excited to bring together the best of local cuisine and thoroughbred racing at ATC venues.”
