Jockey Quotes - Theo Marks Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 Toyota Forklifts Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Jason Collett (Encap): “I knew I’d have a good turn of foot late. I must admit, Bases Loaded did kick pretty well then kept kicking as I got close.

“You’ve got to aim there (Golden Eagle) as a four-year-old, that’s the race, and this is a good starting point to get towards it. He’s quite small and a bit unassuming, you look at him and there’s not a great deal of him but he’s starting to fill into that small frame. His ability, he’s got a lot of it, and that was great to see today.

“He did that (improve) last prep as well. He was fantastic in the Hobartville off a wide run and got beaten by a very good horse (Celestial Legend).

“Luckily, that horse might have had a bit of improvement in him today and obviously we probably have a bit more too, looking at our bloke. But we’ve been able to turn the tables today.”

Tim Clark (Bases Loaded): “He ran really well. He will take nice improvement from the run. In for a good prep.”

Zac Lloyd (Boom Torque): “Really good run. He was a bit awkward in between them. He is the sort of horse who appreciates room. From that he tried hard and hit the line strongly. Hard to beat in the Kosciuszko.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Celestial Legend): “He will improve with that run. He just showed he needed the run there today. A good starting point to blow the cobwebs out. Just felt him peak the last 150 yards of that. Improvement into the second up run.”

Josh Parr (Rediener): “Nice to feel such a quality horse back in good shape.”

Adam Hyeronimus (New Endeavour): “Great. Happy.”

Tommy Berry (Osipenko): “I would say that was a pass mark for him.”

Dylan Gibbons (New Energy): “A bit of clear air late would have been exciting to see. Nonetheless he is going great guns.”

Regan Bayliss (Coastwatch): “I thought he ran super. A race like the Shannon in two weeks time will be good for him.”

Chad Schofield (Punch Lane): “Travelled a bit too well in front. I was kept honest by Bases Loaded who was steaming down neck the whole way. Gave a kick and then just felt it first up.”

Rachel King (Molly Bloom): “Not a bad return. She was doing her best work late.”

Andrew Adkins (Diamond Diesel): “I thought he raced really well to the later part of the straight in a tough race.”

Tyler Schiller (Tannhauser): “Fantastic. I was happy to see him savage the line. He will be better up in trip.”
