Jockey Quotes - The Big Dance

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Listed $3,000,000 Big Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Tommy Berry (Gringotts): “I hate being in front that far out, so I was too busy trying to get him home and we spoke about how many seconds I've had in big races over the last 12 months, so I just held my nerve and just got him to get the job done and it's pleasing. But yeah, it's a nice feeling again.

“He's going to be better again next preparation. He's still learning his craft. Last start he wanted to go a little bit keen, but they put a bit more work into him this time and had him primed for the day, but it's nice to get one for this team and this ownership group, Ozzie, and everyone else that's involved there. They're great supporters of mine, whether it's for Ciaron or Chris Waller or other stables.”

Andrew Adkins (Vivy Air): “She was excellent. That is about all I’ve got. She was terrific. Delivered at the right times and was very tough.”

Tim Clark (Suparazi): “He was prepared brilliantly and ran accordingly.”

Nash Rawiller (Here To Shock): “Obviously didn’t go as well today. Was a bit agitated when I pulled up and I took the saddle off him. Just thought there might have been something underlying.”

Jason Collett (Detonator Jack): “Didn’t travel as well as I would have liked. Was able to stick on.”

Josh Parr (Lion's Roar): “Struggled to get into the race.”

Ashley Morgan (Sky Lab): “He ran terrific. He’s an old warhorse. Kept finding the line. Just hard for us to make ground.”

Dylan Gibbons (Hezashocka): “Travelled well. We were hoping he’d sprint well fresh but he’s just an out and out stayer.”

Tom Sherry (Redstone Well): “Very proud of him. He raced well. Was still strong on the line. He didn’t have the change up in speed as the winner had. He was gallant in defeat.”

Christian Reith (Time Quest): “Disappointing today.”

Zac Wadick (Floating): “He has done really well. Closed of really well. Too far back.”

Regan Bayliss (Ducasse): “Couldn’t have asked for a better run from the barrier we were dealt with. In the one by one following the winner. A tough tenacious effort.”

Chad Schofield (Tavi Time): “We had a perfect run from our draw. Travelled very well. Boxed on honestly up the straight.”

Jay Ford (Overriding): “She ran a good race. Probably a mile is just a bit too far for her.”

Jake Bayliss (Cranky Harry): “He probably only just gets the mile. That sort of tempo sort of just broke him up from the 1000m onwards. He still boxed on alright.”

Mathew Cahill (Sneak Preview): “He raced flat.”

Alysha Collett (Green Shadows): “Very tough effort from him.”

Jake Duffy (Prince Of Helena): “Never finished off.”

Molly Bourke (Zouatica): “Just had to do it a bit tough from that gate. Probably burned the candle early.”

Reece Jones (Money From The Sky): “Think he’s just come to the end of it. Raced completely disinterested.”
