Jockey Quotes - Tea Rose Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 Myplates Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Tommy Berry (Apocalyptic) : “It's pretty exciting. I would have loved a heart monitor on Michael halfway around. We both knew before the race it was a very tricky barrier. She's got such a big stride, and I spoke to you before the race. I didn't really mind being wide on her; it was better than being in. At least she could just use her, use her big stride.

“We've had a big rap on her for a long time and it's I've had raps on horses before and it doesn't, you know, come to fruition, which today it has. A mile is right up her alley, we've always thought she'll get better the further she goes.”

Dylan Gibbons (Artistic Venture): “Fantastic run. Sadly ran into one better but has gone terrific.”

James McDonald (Tupakara): “She went well. She boxed on nicely.”

Jason Collett (Within The Law): “Not a lot of luck from the gate. Sort of had the winners back but lost it mid-race. Got going earlier but it didn’t help me late.

Ethan Brown (Kujenga): “Very plain. I can’t offer any explanation at this stage. She wasn’t the same horse as two weeks ago.”

Nash Rawiller (Queen Of Clubs): No comment

Zac Lloyd (Karinska): “Really good. Happy with her. She has had a tough 400m sprint up the straight. That will do her the world of good. Add fitness to her in two weeks time.”

Chad Schofield (Next Jen): “Below her best. She is much better than that.”

Alysha Collett (Open Secret): “Look she tried hard.”

Rachel King (Autumn Blonde): “A bit of her own worst enemy today. She wanted to pull hard the first half of the race. Got tired late.”

Tim Clark (Enviable): “She ran really well. Didn’t have a lot of luck.”
