It was Group 1 win number three for Josh Parr and number two for the filly Shoals.
Find out what the beaten jockeys made of their runs in the Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.
Josh Parr (Shoals): “I galloped her on Tuesday morning and I was full of confidence. It was a really wet track on Tuesday morning but she gave me so much confidence with how she worked, I had a lot of horse up my sleeve, and I was confident coming here today. I knew I would land in a good spot, in a forward position, and she’s a tough, really gallant little thing.”

Christian Reith (Torvill): “She was super again today. Alley definitely cost us.”
Tim Clark (Shumookh): “Ran out of her skin. For her first preparation she’s done an amazing job.”
Glyn Schofield (Alizee): “I had a lovely run. The splits came when I needed them but she couldn’t finish them off.”
Hugh Bowman (Melody Belle): “Caught wide from an awkward draw and took its toll.”
Jason Collett (Frolic): “Very disappointing after the first up effort. Maybe the 1400m was too far for her.”
Kerrin Mcevoy (Rimraam): “She ran well second up. Nice ffort, she’ll improve with that and on to her next run over a mile.”
Jay Ford (Unforgotten): “Very disappointing, very lacklustre and offered nothing when asked.”
Jeff Lloyd (Yulong Xingsheng): “Travelled well through the run, just didn’t quicken but a very nice run in this company.”
Brenton Avdulla (Moss Trip): “She ran terrific. Ran out of her skin. Full credit to the stable for getting her there.”
Rachel King (Touch Of Mink): “Really good effort stepping up in company.”
