Dylan Gibbons (Buenos Noches): “I thought I’d be in a much nicer spot than that probably following something that was going to go forward, but look, things are pretty easy when you’ve got a fair bit of horse underneath you.

“Once I saw Hughie (Bowman on Uncalledit - 9th) drop off a bit it let me get straight on the back of Chad (Schofield on Argentia - 2nd) and then it was just a matter of making sure I pressed the button when I needed to and the thing is he’s got there quite easy, pricked the ears and had a great time. I think it’s onwards and upwards from here.

“He’s very hairy, he had a bit of pre-race antics. He had that nervous energy. There’s a 1200m race (The Everest) around October time that I think might suit him.”

Buenos Noches wins the Show County

Chad Schofield (Argentia): “She ran very well. We knew from the draw all week that we’d need a lot of luck in this race but we rolled forward and sat on the speed and she was very game.”

Tom Sherry (Dragonstone): “Terrific run. Obviously the race lacked a bit of tempo, he took it up. Was a little bit of a query over 1200m but he stuck to his task quite nicely.”

Hugh Bowman (Ucalledit): “He just found the 1200m tempo a bit quick at this level.”

Jason Collett (Rocketing By): “He’s run good. He just couldn’t quite quicken off that.”

Regan Bayliss (Sky Lab): “He has gone enormous. He is in for a great preparation once he gets to a more suitable trip.”

Reece Jones (Fender): “Probably a little bit too sharp for him in this grade. He didn’t shirk his task at all and kept working to the line well.”

Jamie Kah (Kalino): “Just needs a bit further. He didn’t have that change up pace.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Extremely Lucky): “I think we probably expected a little bit more. I think there is going to be improvement in him. He hasn’t raced for a little while. Not sure if that ground was to his liking. So not totally disappointed. Improvement to come.”
