James McDonald (Showmanship): ““Pretty thankful to get the ride from Danny (O’Brien) and Mr Peters. They are always a force when the come over to the eastern coast and they seem to take a lot of prizemoney. He is a classy horse and was prepped up to perfection. He was here to run really well and he did that. I was glad he came to Sydney today.

“He’s an old gentleman. He just does what he had to do but his win record is just superb. He is a real winner, he knows where the line is and is a pleasure to ride.

“Without doubt (there’s improvement). Danny (O’Brien) said there was plenty to come. It was a lovely stepping stone, he got in well at the weights and he is a real progressive horse.”

Showmanship wins the Show County

Kerrin McEvoy (Prime Candidate): “Good run by him. He’s obviously enjoyed getting back on top of the ground.”

Tommy Berry (Rocketing By): “Very happy with him. It’s a shame he drew badly because we had to give up a few spots but he’s run well.”

Glyn Schofield (Special Reward): “Settled midfield, under pressure turning but hit the line nicely.”

Nash Rawiller (King Of Sparta): “He raced quite keen and needs a solidly run race.”

Rachel King (Bandipur): “A really super run. He’s second up after a long break and I think they’ve got him back to his best.”

William Pike (Electric Girl): “Just not her day today.”

Brenton Avdulla (Chat): “He was OK. Think he’ll improve off that.”

Andrew Adkins (Sonnet Star): “She’s gone terrific in a pretty hot race. Very happy with her.”
