Jockey Quotes - Queen Of The Turf Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1,000,000 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Nash Rawiller (Atishu): “She’s talented. Just thanking the owners for the last time. Everything went wrong and you know one of Chris’s (Waller) they’re going to improve, train on and be a better horse today. Not only that but the jockey is going to be better for the ride too. I learned a lot about her last time, today from (gate) one I was full of confidence. I was a little concerned when I was so far in front with 300m to go, it’s a long straight Randwick, but I knew she was going to find something.”

“I was in their position once (Younger Jockeys), I used to look up to the Jim Cassidys, Darren Beadmans and Darren Gaucis, all the boys, Greg Hall. So for me, I want to leave a bit of a legacy in the sport, I just fly under the radar a bit. Things like this today, that’s what makes it all worthwhile. We’ve had a pretty hard last couple of months, so to get here today and perform like this it’s just been terrific.”

“She’s definitely got wiser. She used to probably be at the stage where she wouldn’t care if she hurt herself or someone else in barriers. Now as she’s got a bit older she’s more careful of herself. Thankfully today she got out okay.

Tim Clark (Hope In Your Heart): “Another great performance from her. Just lost her spot around the bend. Picked up good late.”

Zac Lloyd (More Secrets): “Super run. Very proud of this horse. Gone amazing to get a G1 placing on the resume.”

James McDonald (Alcohol Free): “She will improve with just having a preparation here. Just needs time to acclimatise.”

Damian Lane (Levante): “Unfortunately ran well without much luck again. She didn’t step from the barrier and ended up too far back from the barrier.”

Joao Moreira (Hinged): “She ran fantastic not helped by the gates.”

Chad Schofield (Promise Of Success): “She ran well. We had a nice trip and she finished it off nicely.”

Ben Melham (Sirileo Miss): “She felt tight.”

Brenton Avdulla (Roots): “She ran OK. She finds the mile from that draw not ideal. In a race over 1400m will suit her.”

John Allen (Statement): “She was disappointing. Ended up with a pretty nice run. Didn’t fire.”

Robbie Dolan (Pride Of Jenni): “Tried very hard. Just couldn’t back up that really god run.”

Tom Marquand (Purplepay): “She went forward and got carried out wide onto the better ground albeit.”

Brett Prebble (Excelida): “Jumped really well today. Had a lovely run. Spun her wheels in that ground.”

Hugh Bowman (Times Square): “Travelled superbly. Had a little bit of traffic in the straight. Thought she was a bit sedate on the heavy ground.”

Tyler Schiller (Bring The Ransom): “She is flying. Just the gates hurt her.”

Regan Bayliss (Finepoint): “Probably not up to these at Set Weights.”
