Jockey Quotes - Provincial-Midway Championships Final

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $1,000,000 Polytrack Provincial-Midway Championships Final (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Ashley Morgan (Matcha Latte): "When I got off him at Newcastle, I said to Sara, 'I'll be there that day.' I didn't have a ride.

“Great job by her because the horse had his issues and she's done a great job to rehab him and bring him back. His form as a three-year-old was top class, and he ran second in the Cameron behind a Group 1 winner.”

“It was a clear stand-out form, and it was just getting it right.

“The barrier helped, I was happy to take the sit, he actually quickened better than I thought he would. We sort of lobbed there a bit too soon and Kris’ horse [Lord Of Biscay] had his chance to get us, but he really dug in late.”

James McDonald (Lord Of Biscay): “He was good. Solid to the line.”

Jason Collett (Imposant): “She has run well. Followed the first and second horse. Couldn’t pick them up.”

Tom Marquand (Magnatear): “Got a nice tow around on the inside. Just lent into the horse next to him. Probably cost him a spot.”

Blake Shinn (French Ruler): “Just didn’t get the best run from the draw. Stuck on OK.”

Tommy Berry (Mogul Monarch): “He just needed to execute really well to get 1400m but went too keen for that today. Still a big raw horse, learning and will have another day.”

Nash Rawiller (Well Timed): “No luck from the gate.”

Jay Ford (Bojangles): “Travelled well early. Found an OK spot from the gate. Just needed to build the revs. Got stuck into some argy bargy and didn’t have enough time to wind up.”

Craig Williams (Money Team): “We went back from the outside barrier in a very competitive race. Felt like once the horses found possessions, I don’t think they really changed positions from 200m after the start.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Broadway Bouncer): No comment

Tyler Schiller (Vintage Choice): “I thought he was enormous. Joe thought he was overs in his price. He has definitely run above expectations.”

Tim Clark (Rapt): “She found the line well. Just couldn’t quite bridge the gap. Ran well.”

Zac Lloyd (Art Volant): “She is better than that. Might have come to end of it. She never let down up the straight.”

Chad Lever (Mahogany Girl): “Probably just had enough. Last two starts she has bombed the start a bit which is unlike her.”

Jamie Melham (Kind Words): “Nice horse. They were just a bit too sharp for her. Will be better over further.”
