Jockey Quotes - Manion Cup

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 Precise Air NE Manion Cup (2400m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Tom Marquand (Post Impressionist): “We’ve seen it in England at Haydock, but that was over ‘a mile and six’ (2800m) and whilst it was a turn of foot, you probably wouldn’t have called it in Australian terms.

“He spelled great and in quarantine. William knows how to get the right horses, he was well-acquired by the Williamses and Issy’s (Paul) done a fantastic job just guiding another horse through.

“It’s a tough process, it’s not easy and she’s backed it up with different variety of horses and different types of horses as well. This lad’s a different type to what we’ve had before.

“I’m just thrilled for everyone involved that he’s come out and done that.

“I’d love to be on him at two miles, sadly I’m a little bit too heavy, but it’s exciting for the team.

“It’s so important for the guys that are finding these horses that are exciting. There are so many things that go into it and I might not be aboard him (in the Sydney Cup) but I’ll be cheering him around, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do.”

Post Impressionist wins the Manion Cup

Dylan Gibbons (Almania): “Gallant run. Just probably travelled a bit too nice for that trip.”

Tommy Berry (Manzoice): “He is on the way to the Sydney Cup. He is improving every time.”

Tyler Schiller (Torrens): “He was OK. Probably just needed the run.”

Reece Jones (Stockman): “Doing best work late. Longer and wetter will suit him.”

Tim Clark (So United): “He was slightly disappointing.”

Tom Sherry (Redstone Well): “Pulled too hard.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Canberra Legend): “He might want softer ground.”

Zac Lloyd (Floating): “Super run. Only just been beaten by the Australian horses stepping up to ‘24’ for the first time. Just unfortunately the European horse was too strong. Great run.”
