Jockey Quotes - Magic Night Stakes

Kiamichi wins her way into next week's $3.5m Golden Slipper with an impressive on pace performance.

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 Harrolds Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Damien Lane (Kiamichi): “She is a tough filly. She hasn’t does much wrong. I thought her run was good last start and she was tough today. I would say that she was pretty close to her top, but hopefully she has a little bit of improvement in her and she pulls up okay.”

“I guess she is going to be in a winning position and she is going to handle the wet. In those sort of races that is going to take you a long way. I’m sure if she gets there she will be competitive.”

Opie Bosson (Probabeel): “Probably was just a little bit too far off them and she wasn’t comfortable in the going, but got home well.”

Sam Clipperton (Lankan Star): “I just had no luck from the draw and suspect on the ground, but definitely a talented filly.”

James McDonald (Athiri): “She went really well, she’s honest.”

Tommy Berry (Amercement): “Massive run, she obviously got back from the gate, I think she’s probably looking for the 1400m now. She just struggled to keep up early, but she was very good late.”

Tim Clark (Niedorp): “Nice filly, but she wants firm going.”

Corey Brown (Still Single): “Didn’t handle it.”

Glyn Schofield (Giselle Anne): “Think she’s earned herself a good rest.”

Brenton Avdulla (Villami): “She struggled in the ground.”

Jason Collett (Ready's Girl): “Tried hard, but just not up to this grade.”

Michael Walker (Invincible Lotus): “Track is too heavy.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Starla): “Nice filly for the future, just didn’t handle that going today.”

Andrew Adkins (Icebath): “She ran okay, didn’t have the best fo runs in transit, I think she’ll be a nice horse over seven furlongs next preparation.”

Jay Ford (Crystal Falls): “Closed off very strong, she’s going to be very good over a mile.”

Robbie Dolan (Bronte): “Just didn’t get through the heavy track.”
