Jockey Quotes - Kingston Town Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 Asahi Super Dry Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick.

Kerrin McEvoy (Birdman): “He had a nice trail today and I must admit, I got the 500 and I thought, ‘right, I've just got to make sure I get out here’. And to his credit, he skipped through really, really sharply when I asked him. He had a lovely trail and he travelled well.

“Then he got to the front and he sort of just floated a bit. And luckily, he rallied when he saw the other horse coming.

“He definitely floated when he got (to the front), so he just thought his job was done. So you know, I think he can go further in trip and ideally I think a little bit more juice in the ground probably suits him better as well. So you know, if he can stay a bit further then the Metropolitan is going to be right up his alley.”

Tyler Schiller (Adelaide River): “He has probably come back to his best there. He hasn’t shown a lot in Australia but today I thought it was his best. He has almost got there. Probably just denied by a fitter horse.”

Ethan Brown (Etna Rosso): "Great run. Doing his best work late. That will top him off well for 2400m and beyond.”

Rachel King (Arapaho): “Really super run. He was in that vulnerable position where he had to cart them up to the leader which is not his go. Another super run.”

Tim Clark (Vauban): “He battled away well. Was just a little flat second up.”

Zac Lloyd (Athabascan): “He was good. Progressing nicely to obviously his target races but that will bring him on.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Full Count Felicia): “I thought it was a good set up today to ride her how I wanted to ride but I don’t think she was comfortable on the firm track.”

Dylan Gibbons (Huetor): “Hopeful that run brings him on.”

Josh Parr (Our Anchorage): “He hasn’t been able to get into that position that he likes where he is dominating the race. He doesn’t perform his best amongst the ruck.”

Jason Collett (Son Of Sun): “Came under pressure early but did stick on. That will help with fitness.”

Tommy Berry (More Felons): “A pass mark today.”

James McDonald (Elamaz): “He just peaked on the run.”

Chad Schofield (Naval College): “It was a properly run race. We were first up and he felt it. I thought he was brave.”

Regan Bayliss (Mehzebeen): “A little bit plain overall. I thought he’d run into the finish a little bit stronger than he did.”
